Class A Semi-Finals
Three finals in a row for SACA!
Macon Centreplex - Macon, GA
Three state finals in a row! Five consecutive trips to the Final Four! Can you say DYNASTY! I’ll say it for you, the Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy Warriors have one of the top programs in the state in any class. Oh yeah, did I fail to mention that Dwight Howard is no longer their?
For all those who thought that it was the Dwight Howard Warriors, realize now that it has ALWAYS been the SACA Warriors. Through hard work, dedication, commitment and most importantly PRAYER, the Warriors have done what no one else but themselves knew possible and that was to be able to defend their state championship as they defeated the Terrell County Greenwave by a score of 74-59. Up next for SACA will be their biggest challenge of all time as they take on the states best team in any classification in Randolph-Clay for the state championship.
SACA’s Javaris Crittenton started the game out with six quick points and it was apparent from the start that he and the Warriors had their “A” game going on. Terrrell County hung in the contest as well as they played a rugged inside game with Cedric Bogaq being the catalyst as both teams were tied 12 apiece at the end of first period.
Coach Courtney Brooks Warriors came out in the second quarter and caught fire. Jahaziel Howard (Dwight’s little brother) had a fantastic quarter as he scored 8 points. Howard, who has developed a beautiful jumper will be highly needed in the title game. Darryl Slack, the Warriors emotional and floor leader played with the fire that SACA fans are so accustomed to seeing as he pumped in six points in the quarter and played some tenacious defense as the Warriors rolled to a 37-28 halftime lead.
The Greenwave was not without its moment as Mario Davis was on his game as he scored 10 points in the second quarter. Six of those points came on two buckets from way downtown.
Javaris Crittenton, who is one of the top 10 ranked juniors in the country led all scorers with a game high 28 points. Crittenton scored 10 in the third as he showed off his offensive foray with some spectacular dribble drives and some nice pull-up jumpers. Teammate Danny Friend played well as he scored 8 and grabbed a team high 8 boards. Friend, who is a junior is on the verge of a breakout game. Watch out!.
Justin Prothro, a high flyer made the highlight of the game as he did his best “Dr. J” impersonation of a one handed slam. All he needed was the “big fro”.
