L.A. "Keeping it Real" with Tedrick Colson
Street Talk was on-hand at the 3 rd Annual Dekalb County All-Star baseball game and was able catch up with Stone Mountain High School’s multi-talented; multi sports star Tedrick Colson (6-1, 200). Tedrick and I got a chance to “Keep it Real” just before he was about to take the field for batting practice before he hit the field as the starting 2nd baseman for the North All-Stars.
L.A.: “Now you played 3 sports at Stone Mountain; basketball, baseball and football do you prefer one sport over the other?”
Tedrick: “Baseball”
L.A.: “Really, I thought the way you I saw you drilling folks during the football season that football would have been the choice.”
Tedrick: “No…too many injuries.”
L.A.: “Where will you be playing college baseball at next season?”
Tedrick: “Alabama A& M”
L.A.: “Who have been some of the most influential people in your life”?
Tedrick: “My mama and GOD!.”
L.A.: “What has been the biggest thrill in your athletic career so far?
Tedrick: “When I played basketball we went to the Sweet 16, that was big.”
L.A.: “What part of your game do you think you will have to work on to be successful at the next level?”
Tedrick: “My speed and my strength.”
L.A.: “What positions are you projected to play next season in college?”
Tedrick: “Center Field and Second Base.”
L.A.: “Are you going to play any other sports in college?”
Tedrick: “Maybe football.”
L.A.: “After college do you have plans on going on to play at the next level?”
Tedrick: “Yes Sir, I want to go pro in baseball.”
L.A.: “If that opportunity comes up sooner than later do you think you will you go on and make that move?”
Tedrick: “Yes Sir”
L.A.: “Who has been one of the toughest players you have had to face in any sport?”
Tedrick: (after a brief hesitation) “Louis Williams (South Gwinnett H.S.) in basketball.”
L.A.: “What about in football, keep it real now”
Tedrick: “I can’t really think of anybody”
L.A.: “What is the last CD you brought and why?”
Tedrick: (a little laugh) “I haven’t brought a CD in a long time.”
L.A.: “I’m going to throw out some word comparisons and I want you to choose one”
L.A.: “Sean John or Roca-Wear?”
Tedrick: “Roca-Wear”
L.A.: “Nike or Reebok?”
Tedrick: “Nike”
L.A.: “Hip-Hop, Rap, Rock or Jazz?”
Tedrick: “Hip-Hop”
L.A.: “Halle Berry, Bianca or Janet Jackson?”
Tedrick: (no hesitation at all) “All of them..period”
L.A.: “Thanks, Tedrick and good luck”
