Dunwoody simply too much for Avondale

Flowery Branch transfer Zac Swansey led the Wildcats in victory

Dunwoody High School - Dunwoody, GA

Zac Swansey had a game high 21 points in a Wildcats rout over Avondale.
The Avondale Blue Devils headed to Dunwoody High School to take on the hosting Wildcats.  For all intents and purposes, the Blue Devils were just sparring partners.  The Wildcats held down the fort, and then some in a rout over Avondale.  And that was just the first half.

Dunwoody hit hard and quick, jumping out to 8-0 lead.  The Wildcats never looked back.  Avondale made faint attempts at staying close, but just couldn’t keep up.  The closest the Blue Devils would get is 12-9, but the Wildcats would go on a 7-2 to end the first period to head into the second up by 19-11.

The Wildcats backcourt of Kierre Jordan, Wesley Mincey, and Zac Swansey kept the heat on the Blue Devils with an overwhelming press throughout most of the first half.  Early turnovers and easy baskets put Dunwoody out of reach.  With the score 21-13, Dunwoody went on a 19-0 run to put Dunwoody on cruise control.

When the backcourt wasn’t imposing its will against the Blue Devils, An’jwan Wilderness held it down in the paint.  The big man roughed up the Blue Devils inside for 19 points and 11 rebounds to help put the Tigers up 56-26 at the half..

The second half was more of the same.  Dunwoody continued with its press and Avondale continued with its turnovers.  The most eventful action of the second half was a crowd-rousing dunk by Dunwoody’s Chris Goode.  After it was all said and done, Dunwoody got in a little scrimmage to open up the season with a 97-51 victory over the Avondale Blue Devils.
