Panthers take a bite out of the Pirates

Hazzardous from down town, 22 points enough.

Stone Mountain H.S. Gymnasium – Stone Mountain, GA

Brandon goes in for 2 of his 22 points of the game.
When these two teams are off the court, most of the players are real good friends. Once the jump ball is thrown and the buzzer sounds, all that goes out the window. The relationship between Stone Mountain and Southwest Dekalb high school is lead by Terrell Bell (Pirates) and Brandon Hazzard (Panthers).

Southwest Dekalbs Hazzard is ranked 40 in the state via 4SHOT Hoops Burning 50 and looks to climb the ladder by the end of the season. Hazzard has tremendous shooting range and wasn’t afraid to put it on display for the Stone Mountain Pirates.

On the other end of the court the Pirates would bring in one of the top 10 juniors in the state in Terrell Bell. Bell game has matured tremendously and looks to make his junior year campaign one of the best. Bell game has extended above the rim, along with an array of post moves, his mid range and long-range jumper can be deadly. Terrell was also honored at halftime with the Dekalb County player of the week with an average of 18 points 12 rebounds.

The game would get on the way with 2 back to back baskets by Terrence Dixon  leading to a 9-2 run, capped off with 2 free throws from the line from Hazzard. Bell would execute four free throws and the lead would cut to one 9-8 with 3:57 left in the first period. Jeff Hernandez would be a beast for the Panthers in the paint with a block and a put back moving the score to 14-15 with 1:55 in the first period. Capping off the first period Stone Mountain would be up 17-15.

Terrell Bell 24 points 6 rebounds 6 assist 4 blocks, enough said.

We move to the second half or the game in the third period when Hernandez would score the first points to get things started. Brandon would nail 2 three pointers from down town, SWD would take a 11 point lead 45-34 with 3:30 to go in the third period. Bell would look to counter the scoring of Hazzard with to back-to-back scores. The first score coming on a jumper and the second Bell would drive the ball the length of the floor with a turn around move in the paint to move the score to 38-45. Even though Bell efforts where appreciated the quarter would belong to Hazzard as he would drill another mid-range jumper closing out the third period 49-40.

In the fourth period the Pirates would get close but not close enough. Hazzard would hit 2 more three-pointers and Hernandez would score in the paint closing out the game a close 59-55.
