Northside “Patriots” – 77 vs. Pacelli “Vikings” – 57
Northside’s 6-5 Sr.-Rhomand Dupass put up his second 23 points performance of the tournament to lead three players (6-3 Jr.-Jaymie Snell 16pts and 5-11 So.-Lamar Brown 12pts) in double figures as the “Patriots” thumbed Pacelli by 20 points, 77-57. Pacelli’s 5-11So.- PG-Jacquise Terry continued his fine play scoring 12 points to lead the “Vikings”.
Spencer “Greenwave” - 69 vs. Jordan “Red Jackets” - 60
6-3 Sr.-Azive Armour continues to pace a potent Spencer attack scoring 19 points as the “Greenwave” fought back a scrappy Jordan team. Jordan had no answer for 6-9 Sr.-Kareem Carter who was a beast inside for Spencer scoring 16 points. The loss overshadowed a nice 21-point performance by Jordan’s 6-2 Jr.-Laquinton Crouch.
Central-Phoenix, AL “Red Devils” - 66 vs. Kendrick “Cherokees”- 49
Behind the play of their big three 5-10 Sr.-Dewayne Bennett, 6-6 Jr.-Cordero Smith and 6-5 Sr.-Earl Alexander (combined for 52 points) the “Red Devils” from Central-Phoenix, AL jumped out to a 35-26 lead and never looked back as they shot down Kendrick 66-49. 6-3 So.-Reginald Shepherd scored 12 points to lead Kendrick.
Shaw “Raiders” - 100 vs. Hardaway “Golden Hawks”- 76
Sr.-Dontae Fedrick got off early and often for Shaw scoring 10 point in the 1st quarter to give the “Raiders” a 25-12 lead. In the 2nd quarter both teams raced up and down the court trading baskets. Hardaway’s Jr.-Elijah Pitts and Jr.-Darrell Ruffin scored 20 of the teams 26 points in the quarter but they still trailed 53-38 at the half. Shaw continued to put up the points in the second half. The “Raiders” played 15 players and all but 1 scored a basket. Fedrick and Patrick Grant each finished with 15 points to lead Shaw. Ruffin who scored a game high 19 points paced Hardaway. Pitts finished with 15 point.
Carver-Columbus “Tigers” - 42 vs. Brookstone “Cougars” - 26
Jarvis Jones a 6-4 freshman continued to play well in the tournament, his 15 points led the “Tigers” to a low scoring 42-26 win.
Harris County “Tigers” - 49 vs. Columbus “Blue Devils” - 46
J.J. Wortham and Kier Jackson combined for 23 points as Harris County overcame a 1st quarter deficit to hang on and beat Columbus. After scoring 22 points in a 1st round game Will Howard from Columbus was held to 8 points in the loss.
