Klapp Presents - "Jabari"
Klapp Presents: The Beginning
It’s your boy Kut here, with my main man, Klapp, aka, “Da Rook”. Klapp and I go way back so it’s only right that I do the groundbreaking interview for “Klapp Presents”. At the same time, it’s an honor for me to do it because this is my man, not only on a professional basis but also personally. Everybody know me. Rod “Kut” Freeman aka Kut Washington. Kut’s Korner: On The Bricks. But right now we’re going to introduce you to Klapp.
Klapp, welcome to 4SHOT Sports. You’ve definitely made an impact since you’ve been here. But I guess my first question is….
 |
| My daughter Jordan |
Kut: Who is Jabari “Klapp” Glapion?
Klapp: Klapp is a fun-loving dude. I like to have a good time and handle my business. That’s just me in a nutshell. I take care of B.I. but I like to have fun with it. That’s me in everything I do. Be it with sports or with a 9 to 5, that’s me. If you know me, you know we’re going to laugh and have a good time, but at the same time, if something needs to be done, we’re going to get it done. That’s Klapp.
Kut: So how did you get the name “Da Rook”?
Klapp: Really, it’s self-explanatory. I’m the new kat. I’m the rookie on the team. I came on in September and of course, 4SHOT Sports had already been established in the sports community. But I came on board and E.R. gave me the name and it stuck.
Kut: Well you know here at 4SHOT Sports, we do it all. But the big three is football, basketball, and baseball. How would you rank the three as your favorites?
Klapp: My favorite? I’m going to have go with football. Next, would be basketball and I hate to say third, and it’s only third because you asked me to rank them, but my third would be baseball. But really, I love all three. If its spring, I’m a baseball man. In the fall, I’m a football man and in the winter, I’m a basketball man. I change with the seasons.
Kut: Well, I hear you’re bringing what’s called “Klapp Presents:”? Or is it Usual Suspect?
Klapp: It’s “Klapp Presents:”.
Kut: Ok, so tell me about “Klapp Presents”.
Klapp: “Klapp Presents” is like a production company. Klapp is going to present different things to you that’s going on in the world of sports. You mentioned “Usual Suspect”. That’s the first thing that’s going to hit the site. That’s the feature where we’re going to showcase the uncommon hype. We’re not going after the number man or woman. We’re going to give shine to those who’s grinding just as hard as the next person, but they might not get that exposure. You have a lot of kids out here doing their thing and some kids are going to be overlooked. It’s my responsibility to give those that are overlooked a chance to be looked at.
Kut: So how did you come up with “Usual Suspect”?
Klapp: Well, you have your usual suspects which are the people you normally hear about but we’re trying to get these kids to become your usual suspect.
Kut: You seem to have a good knowledge base on sports and journalism. Here at 4SHOT, you’re a sports journalist/sports analyst. How did you establish that base?
Klapp: Well, I went to school at Florida A&M University…
Kut: Shout out to the Rattlers.
Klapp: You already know. But, I was a student assistant in sports information which basically facilitated information regarding our athletic programs to different schools, conferences, and media outlets. I was the color analyst for the women’s basketball games on the campus radio station. I was the co-creator and co-host of the first sports talk show on the campus radio show. And I was a journalism major so that’s what I did.
Kut: I know, personally, I take pride in my work to a point where, I want the people to feel that when they read my work, they say that was a great article or I remember something about that article. What about yourself?
Klapp: If you strive to be the best at what you do, of course that’s what you want. You want somebody to remember what you do. But it’s not necessarily about remembering what I do. I don’t want them to say, “I remember that article that Klapp wrote”. I want them to say, “I remember that article that Klapp wrote about John Doe”.

Kut: Alright, I’m going to throw a couple names at you and I want you to give me a little description about that person. First, E.R. Wallace. Doc..
Klapp: (laughs) The old wise one. Doc is a trip, man. He has a wealth of knowledge. He’s like that father figure. He’s going to talk to you on a certain level and he’s going to keep it real. Doc is one of a kind.
Kut: LA
Klapp: Man, LA is like the Zen Master. He’s like the Guru. If LA gives you some advice, you have to soak it in. I mean, he’s the best at what he do, so it’s like, you might as well.
Kut: Alright, you know I have to say myself.
Klapp: Man, if anything you my boy. You brought me into this thing. You introduced the world to “On The Bricks”, so it was only right to follow your lead.
Kut: Well, you know the fellas want to ask you a few questions, Klapp.
Doc: Yeah, Kut. So Rook, what caught your eye about 4SHOT?
Klapp: The thing that really caught my eye about 4SHOT is the coverage. The dedication to these youngsters who go out and give their all on any given day. The fact that they have an avenue to get their recognition on a whole ‘nother level.
Doc: So what can you bring to the table?
Klapp: I can bring that same dedication to these kids and my love for sports. 4SHOT is another way for me to facilitate that love in a manner that’s not readily available to everyone. I feel like this is an opportunity for me to bring another perspective to an already well-rounded group.
Doc: How has it been for you so far working with the guys?
Klapp: It’s been great, man. Y’all accepted me with open arms, showing me the ropes and the in’s and out’s of what this is all about. And I have to show appreciation to my boy, Kut, for taking me under his wing. He brought me out to games and really let me be a sponge. But that’s all of you guys. I really feel like it’s a family. I can come to any of you with anything and it wouldn’t be a problem.
LA: Well I got a couple questions for you, Rook. So at the end of reading your feature, what do you want the reader to get out of it?
 |
| With Coach "Kut Washington" (LOL) |
Klapp: First and foremost L.A., I want them to take note who the person is and secondly, to get a little background on the person. So when you see this person, you have a certain affiliation with him/her. When you see someone you’ve heard about, you may not know them personally but you root for them because of what you heard. I want you support this person in that same manner just by getting to know the individual in a different way.
LA: So what else do you have coming on “Klapp Presents”?
Klapp: Well, I got “From The Sidelines” coming up shortly. That’s going to be a feature that will focus on sideline generals. The coaches. It’s an opportunity for people to get to know the brains behind what they see on the court, field, or diamond.
Kut: Again, welcome to 4SHOT Sports and welcome to the family. “Street Talk”, “In The Zone”, and y’all already know “Kut’s Korner” and now “Klapp Presents”.
Klapp: Thanks, man. We’re going to make it happen.
Kut: So who you got coming up as the first “Usual Suspect”?
Klapp: Come on, Kut, you know I can’t give them the whole name, but I’ll just say this….D-Pitt, you up first.
