Woodstock holds off a stubborn Wheeler team
3rd quarter woes hurt Wheeler
Wheeler H.S. – Marietta, GA

Woodstock's Sarah Stinson did a nice job for the "Lady Wolverines" as she pulls down this rebound.
The “Lady Wolverines” from Woodstock H.S. got three-pointers from Megan Connell, Taqwanda Willams and a nice effort inside from Sarah Stinson to jump out to a early 1st quarter lead over Wheeler; but the “Lady Wildcats” behind the play of Chandra Turner and Aeriell Davis fought back and pulled to within 1 point 12-11 at the end of the quarter.

Wheeler took its first lead of the game 16-14 on a basket by Lashaunda Wyatt, who had a big quarter. A three-pointer by Kristin Zipkin put Woodstock back in front 17-16 with 4:42 left in the half. Wheeler countered with a three from Wyatt, her second of the quarter helped the “Lady Wildcats” tie the game at 21-21 at the half.

Wheeler went stone cold in the 3rd quarter, scoring only 1 point. Woodstock got another three-pointer from Williams and Shayna Banet did the job inside as the “Lady Wolverines” opened up a 32-22 lead.

Wheeler's Aeriell Davis looks to drive past Woodstock's Taqwanda Willams.
Wheeler made a run but their poor showing in the 3rd quarter really hurt them. Woodstock held steady as Wheeler started to press to try and get back in the game. Zipkin, who did a nice job of running the “Lady Wolverines” attack knocked down her second three-pointer of the game as Woodstock went on to hold of Wheeler by a score of 42-30.
