David Pittman gets Interrogated

During football season, some bulletins came across the radio advising 4SHOT Sports of a certain quarterback at Brookwood High School.  David Pittman was being charged with having no pocket presence, no speed, and no jumpshot so I had to go check things out.  After some investigating and conferring with the jury, we have a verdict....

The two-sport athlete definitely has what it takes.
For the first Usual Suspect, I had to sit down with D-Pitt to see what’s going on in the backfield and the backcourt.  Coming off of a tough loss in the Class 5A State Finals, in which the Pasadena, California native had a Donovan McNabb-esque performance after unknowingly spraining and slightly fracturing his ankle, the senior point guard is primed and ready to hit the parquet and do his thing in his “other” sport.

Klapp:  Who is David Pittman?

D-Pitt:  David Pittman is an athlete.  Someone you can depend on.  Someone who is smart, who is actually a coach on the field.  David Pittman is someone who is great.

Klapp:  Great?

D-Pitt:  (laughs) Well, trying to become great.

Klapp:  What is the difference in decision-making on the basketball court, as opposed to on the football field?

D-Pitt:  There is no difference.  I call myself a quarterguard.  Basically, I’m a quarterback and point guard all in one.

Klapp:  What is something about you, that if you didn’t tell anyone, they would never know?

D-Pitt:  I’m afraid of the dark, man.

(silence)

Klapp:  Ok, so who would you say is the most influential person in your life?  Why?

D-Pitt:  Definitely my parents because they are the ones who raised me my throughout whole life.  I give big props to both of my parents, Danny and Karen Pittman, and also my two older brothers, Danny and Dennis, who are both actually playing football right now.  Danny just finished at Morehouse and Dennis is playing at Kent State.

Klapp:  So what is your post-high school career looking like?

D-Pitt:  I haven’t made any decisions yet.  I’m not going to rule out any schools yet so I’ll have to get back with you on that.

Klapp:  Alright, you’re going to have to let us know first.

D-Pitt:  Alright…

Klapp:  When you put your jersey on, basketball or football, do you play for the name on the front or the name on the back?

D-Pitt:  I play for everyone else because where ever I am, I know I’m playing for that school.  I just represent for the names on the front and the back.

Klapp:  If you had the opportunity to meet anyone in the world, who would it be?

D-Pitt:  Prince.  They say he’s a baller.

Klapp:  Dog, Prince?

D-Pitt:  Yeah, man.  They say he’s a 5’2” baller.  I know you’ve seen Dave Chappelle.  But Jamie Foxx said don’t gaze into his eyes, so I wouldn’t look him in the eyes.

Klapp:  I think you watch too much TV….

D-Pitt:  (laughs)

Klapp:  Alright, so what’s in your CD player right now?

D-Pitt:  I got 2 Pac, Game, Dr. Dre.  I got a little Lil Wayne in there.  That’s my boy.  And I got some D4L or Trillville when I want to get crunk or start crumping.

Klapp:  So what do you listen to before a game?

D-Pitt:  I don’t listen to anything.

Klapp:  Nothing?

D-Pitt:  Nothing.  I just go back to my yoga days and tune out everything.  I’m thinking about ballet next.

Klapp:  So what’s your dream car?

D-Pitt:  I have to say a Toyota on 24’s.....Just playing.  Chameleon paint, black and red Bentley with black and red rims with my initials in it.

Klapp:  What is your favorite place to eat?

D-Pitt:  My house.  Momma’s cooking, baby.

Klapp:  Good answer.  You hear that Mrs. Pittman?  So a white tee or a button down?

D-Pitt:  A white tee with a button down over it.

Klapp:  Who is your favorite player in the NFL?

D-Pitt:  Michael Vick.

Klapp:  NBA?

D-Pitt:  Allen Iverson.

Klapp:  Why?

D-Pitt:  Because they overcame the odds.  And they have braids and they’re short and I hope to overcome the odds too.

Klapp:  East Coast or West Coast?

D-Pitt:  West Coast.  That’s where I’m from, baby.

Klapp:  NFL or NBA?

D-Pitt:  NFL.  I want to out do my father.

Klapp:  Your father played in the league?

D-Pitt:  Yeah.  He played with the Giants and Cardinals for seven years.

Klapp:  You know we have to touch on that loss in playoffs.  What happened?

D-Pitt:  Throughout the whole season, we prepared very, very well.  I think the last couple practices, we just got worn out basically.  And when it was game time, I think we just out did ourselves and got too hype before the game even started.  I think that’s what the big letdown was.

Klapp:  Well, alright, man.  Thanks.

D-Pitt:  No problem.

Off The Record:  Pitt, you’re a cool brother.  Stay focused and keep your confidence and you’ll be alright in whatever sport you play.  I appreciate your patience too.  You already know.  And I hope you’ve recovered from that 41-38 loss out there in Pasadena.  Your 34-21, USC win prediction was a little off.  Oh well……Be easy.

Next Suspect?  Get at me....
