Burras dunked so hard

Braves gymnasium - Carrollton, GA

6'1 Macon pg Michael Ford blows by Herman Burge for 2 points.
The rivalry game between Valdosta State University “Blazers” versus the University of West Georgia “Braves” was hot as always. On a fairly cool night in Carrolton Georgia, the Braves gymnasium was pack with nothing but standing room as the two teams took the floor for conference bragging rights.

West Georgia’s Chris Burras would be no joke in the game. Every time the Blazers decided to go on a run, Burras would put he fire out. Backcourt mates Antonio Shaw and Michael Ford would run a hard to stop combination to put up major points. The Braves would enter the game coming off a close scare to Gulf South Conference West Florida 82-78.

Valdosta State on the other hand would enter the game off it second straight losses, one to UAB 98-69 and conference foe Lincoln Memorial 89-82. Mike Crain and Jon Rogers would lead the Blazers in scoring. Mike averaging 29.1 and Jon 30.9 points a game look to give the Blazers an edge. Crain is an All Conference candidate; while Rogers is a NBA prospect average a double double (8 this season).

When the buzzer sounded, it was time to get it on. The Braves would have the ball first off the tip and Macon Georgia’s finest Michael Ford would get the easy score on a lay up. On the Blazers possession, Crain would get the put back to even the score with 18:12 to begin the first half. The first half would go back and forth. With the game tied at 10 points, Burras would nail a three from the parking lot for the Braves and Jon Banks would drain a three to answer from the church ground. Tied at 13 Burras had seen enough, for with 11: 48 to go in the first half, Chris would dunk on somebody so hard the FBI are still looking. It was a great first have ending on a 5 second three pointer from Ford to gave the Braves the edge 34-32.

Love Joys Finest Michael Crain. Here is a big three-pointer from the corner.

After halftime, who knows what happen to the Blazers. The Braves Antonio Shaw would give his team a 13 point lead on a lay up to the score 50-37 with 13:55 left in the game. The Blazers would get as close as 5 points on 2 free throws from Rogers 57-52 and that would be as close as it would get. The Blazers Jeremy Bloomfield and Ray Canady would contribute big off the bench.

Final Score:  West Georgia 86 Valdosta State 72

Kut Scouting Report: Jon Rogers 6'9 Sr. Center (Hahira,GA) / NBA Prospect

Hahira we on the map.

Strengthens / Roger has great upsize and is a consistent double double guy. Jon loves to bang, rebounds well, array of post moves, has tremendous power and great footwork. Shows signs of a mid-range jumper and can pass for a big man. Will definitely play power forward on the next level.

Weakness / Rogers hands are like bricks. Must develop a soft touch to get him into his post moves. Even though Jon gets to the free throw line, his shooting needs work. Cardio and aggressiveness can take an upgrade, but that’s yet to come.
