The game between the Lady Wolves of Wesleyan versus the Lady Spartans of Greater Atlanta Christian was high paced. This distance and fierce competition has created the word rivalry between the two schools.
The Lady Wolves Carolyn Whitney is ranked number 16 in the state via 4SHOT Hoops Elite 50 and would challenge the super Junior D’Nay Daniels for the battle of it all.
Carolyn and twin sister, Elise Whitney, will be heading off to Georgia Southern University next season to help the “Lady Golden Eagles” get on the right track. Carolyn is a slick handling point guard who thrives on competition. She has been a major contributor for the “Lady Wolves” since her freshman year. In 2004, head coach Jan Azar captured the Class 2-A state title and looks to coach her way back to another.
The Spartans Coach Mike Mitchell would have his team primed and ready for the rivalry game between the two dominate Gwinnett County private schools.
Let’s pick the game up in the fourth quarter, when the Lady Spartans Julio Stephens would score back to back baskets to cut the Wesleyan lead to 35-47 with 4:51 left in the period. The game would really get out of hand when Carolyn Whitney would get a steal and drive the ball the length of the court for 2 points, follow by Elise Whitney 2 points on the same routine. The score would be 55-35 with 3:11 left in the game and Spartans Coach Mike Mitchell would call a timeout. After the timeout, the action would commence with the Lady Spartans Kiara Swanier hitting a big three, followed by a lay up for 5 straight points 61-40. The Lady Spartans tried but didn’t have enough as the Lady Wolves pulled off the victory, 61-43.
