The East Tennessee State University “Buccaneers” would enter the game versus the Kennesaw State University “Owls” on a five game winning streak. The Owls of KSU looked to stop that streak after coming off a 4-point victory over Campbell. A great night for Atlantic Sun Conference basketball, let’s see what happens.
The Owls of Kennesaw would be lead by outstanding scorer Golden Ingle and Andre Morgan. Morgan enters the game off a game high 30 points in the Campbell win.
The Buccaneers are looking to pull into second place with a win over the Owls. The Bucs are lead by Atlantic Sun Conference scoring leader senior Tim Smith. Who will enter the game 27 points away from Keith Jennings on the all time scoring list. The paint is control by the super junior Brad Nuckles who averages 7.8 rebounds a game.

The Bucs would get out on fast with a 12 point lead as Smith would be unstoppable, scoring 10 of the teams first 16 points. The score would be 16-4 when Smith would convert a floater in the paint with 15:30 to go in the first half, leading to an Owls timeout. After the timeout, the Owls sophomore guard from Statesboro, Ronnell Wooten would drive in the paint to score 2 points moving the score to 6-16. Smith would again step up to the plate for the Bucs by getting the steal going in for the dunk to move the score back up to a 12 point lead, 18-6, to let the Owls know that it was going to be a long night. The Owls on the other hand would survive the first half mistakes, and be down only by 2 points going into the half 33-31.
With the super burst of energy going into the half, the Owls would bring that same energy out in the second to take the lead 37-35 on a crowd raising dunk from Wooten with 17:46 into the second half. Ryan Nelson would come off the bench

and nail a three-pointer from the parking lot to give the Owls an eight point lead to the score 62-54 with only 5:28 left in the game. Even though the Owls led most of the second half, the Buccaneers would go on what every team has and that’s a run. The Bucs 12-2 run would give them the lead with 1:50 left in the game on a beautiful crossover and lay up by Smith. Rooten would not let the game slip away for the Owls, for he would answer back with another three-pointer. East Tennessee State's, Smith would become the number 2 all time leading scorer in the school history, passing Keith Jennings. With the score 66-67 the Bucs would down one point with 2.7 in the game and the Owls would foul Smith on the inbound play. Smith would go to the line to shot 3 free-throws needing only 2 to seal it and would only hit one to tie it.
IN OVERTIME
The Bucs would come out focused to win with a fast 5 points lead to the score 72-67 with 3:35 left in overtime, but point guard Golden Ingle would have something to say about that. Ingle would score 7 points as his team would go ahead to take the lead on a three pointer that he nailed from the parking lot to win the game.
Final Score: Kennesaw State 78 East Tennessee State 72
