Championship Game

Cherokee vs. Lassiter

 

Lady Warriors out duel the Lady Trojans.

18 points from Jennifer Ervin enough for the victory!

 

The Longhorn Corral – Kell High School – Marietta, GA

 

The game between the Lady Warriors of Cherokee versus the Lady Trojans of Lassiter would take place in the battle for it all. The Lady Warriors Jennifer Ervin would be no joke; a game high 18 points would seem to be enough.

 

Kelly Wheeler would back the Lady Trojans in the paint and on the perimeter. The 5’11 Wheeler has tremendous size and ball handling skills.

 

The game would start out at a face pace being all Lady Warriors. Ervin would score on a mid-range jumper to push the score to 17-5. The first period would end to the score 19-11 in favor of Cherokee.

 

In the second period, Jonna Capehart would come off the bench to show her mid-range skills and keep the Lady Trojans close at the half 28-24.

 

The closing of the show would come when Michelle Thompson converts a lay in the last minute to give Cherokee the title.

 

Final Score: Cherokee 47 Lassiter 42

Jennifer Ervin would lead all scorers with 18 points, Michelle Thompson 15 points and Sharon Swanson 9 points.

 

Lassiter

Kelly Wheeler 16 points, Jonna Capehart and Mercedes Dixon both finished with 6 points each.

 

 

 


 

Third Place Game

Milton vs. Wheeler

 

Lady Eagles survive in double overtime

Kelly O’Connor is out of this world.

 

It would take double overtime for the Lady Eagles to get pass the Lady Wildcats. The score would be 37-22 going into the half with the Lady Eagles on top. Wheeler would come out the half on a 13-3 run and end the third period only down by 6 points 49-43. At the end of regulation, with 18 seconds left in the game Kelly O’Connor would drive the lane and get foul; converting the and 1 to tie it at 63 to send the game into it’s first overtime.

 

When the smoke cleared, it put the Lady Eagles on top of a hard fought game.

 

Final Score: Milton 76 Wheeler 73 (2 Overtime)

Kelly O’Connor 24 points, Ashton Jeffrey 16 points, Bethany Kotun 7 points and Kristen Devine 6 points.

 

Wheeler
