Now, e'rybody wanna be the King of the South, No doubt, it's all good, y'all just statin y'all opinion, But in the South it's understood without sayin, I'm a King. Top topic of all of your magazines, head of the body, leader of the team. I'm connected nationwide but in the South I'm a King. Ask Kut why it's "King Supreme" On Da Bricks!
I had the opportunity to sit down with the number 3 rank player in the state via 4SHOT Hoops Burning 50, the "King" Cameron Tatum on why UNC Charolette and what’s his favorite food?
Kut Take: When I first seen the kid play, I told my counter part E.R. “Da Doc” Wallace that kid is “King Supreme” and the name stuck. I thought nothing of it until over the summer in the grocery store a little kid walked up to me and said “Excuse me sir, are you the guy from 4SHOT Sports? I replied ‘yes’. That dude ‘King Supreme’ is good like you said”. The rest is history. Enjoy!
Kut: Who is Cameron Tatum?
King: The next big thing. I am up and coming. I feel like I am still flying up under the radar. I got a little buzz but not too many people know about me. I am here to make believer out of everybody.
Kut: What is something about you that if you didn’t tell someone they would never know?
King: I was a soccer player at first (Laughing). I played soccer until I was 12 years old. I was star in soccer, killing them at it.
Kut: Who would you say is most influential people in your life?
King: My father (Robert Tatum) and my brother are my biggest influences. My dad always talks to me about the long run and how education is important in my life. My brother teaches me what I need to do on the basketball court. My dad teaches basketball and how it relates to life experiences. My dad played college ball for Tuskegee University.
Kut: How long you been playing ball?
King: I been playing ball for 9 years. When I was 8 years old I was playing the 11 year olds on my dads AAU team the Stone Mountain Bulls.
Kut: You had offers from Georgia, Alabama, NC State, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Why the Charlotte 49ers?
King: I pick Charlotte for the simple fact that they were on me for the last two years. I like coach Lutz, the staff and love the city. I was waiting on Georgia but they took forever to try to recruit me. After I had my breakout game at the Adidas Showtime everybody start calling, Connecticut and Tennessee wanted me bad. I wanted to stay close to home with Georgia but they haven’t seen the NCAA tournament in a minute.
Kut: Keep it real, this Da Bricks Kut’s Korner if we can’t say it on the Korner we can’t say it no where, tell me truth… What did Charlotte say that know one else said to make you say ok I am with UNC Charlotte?
King: Coach Lutz told me, “if you don’t play another game I still want you, your scholarship is on the table, I know what you can do.”
Kut: What does it mean to be a Tucker Tiger?
King: Now that we on the map with basketball not just football, we have a lot to live up to, especially with last years finish.
Kut: When you put that jersey on every game night, do you play for the name on the front or the name on the back? Why?
King: Play for the name on the front of the jersey. It’s a team game, I can’t win it all by myself. I can’t shoot 50 shots and hit all of them. It’s a team and everyone contributes.
Kut: Last year you guys lost to Mays High in the state 4-A state championship. How determine are you guys to get back there?
King: Very determine. We work very hard this summer. If we weren’t on an AAU team, every guy was in the weight room or in a gym-shooting ball.
Kut: What did you do to improve your game over the summer?
King: Defense. I was locking people down over the summer. I felt like that was my weakness.
Kut: What’s the difference in AAU and High School ball?
King: AAU is more up and down like a showcase. High school is more structured.
Kut: What player have you played against and might have said to yourself that “man that guy is just as good?”
King: Michael Beasley, no doubt. Beasley is a beast. Mike B got that work. When I see him dunking in warm ups I was like this guy got it.
Kut: What is your most memorable moment playing basketball at anytime?
King: I dunk on a 6’8 dude from Lakeside High School my junior year. I cross the guy up at the top of the key and went down the paint and he was stand there so I had to put it on him. After that, I felt like no body could jump with me and I start dunking on everybody, alley oops and everything.
Kut: If you had one opportunity to meet any one in the world, who would that be and why?
King: Michael Jordan or Tracy McGrady, everyone wants to meet Michael Jordan but more Tracy. T-Mac is who I feel my game is like and I feel like I am going to be his size. I would like to just ask him about his work out.
Kut: What’s in your CD player right now?
King: Young Jeezy
Kut: What song do you listen to before a game?
King: Lil Wayne “Mama gave me swag”
Kut: What do you do to unwind after a game?
King: Slow Jams
Kut: What is your dream car to own?
King: Chrysler 300 “The poor mans Bentley”
Kut: What’s your Favorite Food?

Kut: Any body you want to shout out to?

2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
Salvation gets you saved, Bible study (not reading but study) makes disciples. We need more disciples. –verse given by God through Mark J; good looking.-
