Street Talk - "Live in L.A."
L.A. “Keeping it Real” with Brittany Reynolds
Street Talk is going to find that untapped potential because that’s what we do and we found it over at Columbia H.S. in Decatur, GA in the form of Brittany Reynolds. Brittany was named on the 4SHOT Hoops Honorable Mention List last year as a junior. I’m telling you this 5-9 senior hasn’t even scratched the surface of the type of player she can become; it’s written all over her. I caught up with the soaring “Lady Eagle” and got a chance to sit down and “Keep it Real”.
L.A.: “Who have been some of the most influential people in your life so far”?
Brittany: “My parents have been with me every step of the way. If it weren’t for their commitment I wouldn’t be where I am today. Also my coaches: Henry, Paul, Carlos, Atchison, and Jackson just to name a few.”
L.A.: “How long have you actually been playing basketball?”
Brittany: “I’ve been playing since I was ten, so a little over seven years.”
L.A.: “What has been one of the most disappointing moments or times so far in your career?
Brittany: “When I tore my hamstring in the eighth grade I was devastated because I couldn’t play and help my team. I had to spend a lot of time in rehab. To this day my hamstring is still not 100% healthy.”
L.A.: “What about some of the high points in your career so far? Brittany: ”When my AAU team won state and we beat the number one team in the nation.”
L.A.: “What do you think you need to do to get yourself ready for the next level of basketball?”
Brittany: ”I need to become mentally stronger so that I am consistent every game. Physically, I need to put on a little more weight and there is always room for improvement in my overall game.”
L.A.: “What position would you like to play at the next level?”
Brittany: “I would love to play the two or the three.”
L.A.: “What is the strongest part of your game?”
Brittany: “My move to the basket is the strongest part of my game. Once I put it on the floor it’s hard to stop me.”
L.A.: “What type of personal goals have you set for this season?” Brittany: “I would like to increase all my stats from last year and help the underclassmen to become better players. “
L.A.: “Who has been one of the toughest players you have had to guard?” Brittany: “Leanne Watson from Stone Mountain. She’s very quick and she can jump out of the gym.”

L.A.: “Tell me something about yourself that people wouldn’t know by just looking at you? Brittany: “People say I look mean but I’m very goofy and silly.”
L.A.: “What do you want to be when you grow up? Brittany: I want to be a public relations specialist or a marketing manager in the music industry.
L.A.: “Do you have a nickname?” Brittany: “My friends call me Brit and my dad calls me pooh.”
L.A.: “What AAU Team did you play for and how does summer ball (AAU) differ from high school ball?”
Brittany: “I played for the Georgia Hotshots Elite with Henry Thomas. AAU ball is way more competitive than high school ball. Plus AAU teams are mostly made up of the very best players around because you can go out and recruit. However, in high school you have to work with what you have. “
L.A.: “If you could meet anyone in the world who would it be and why?” Brittany: “I would have to say Nelly because not only is he fine but he has achieved so much in his life. He’s a rapper, a father, a role model, and an entrepreneur and all of this came from nothing. I admire him so much.
L.A.: “I’m going to throw out some word comparisons and I want you to choose one, Nike, Reebok or Adidas?” Brittany: “Nike.”
L.A.: “Escalade, Denali, Corvette, Mercedes or Ferrari (or another type of vehicle)?” Brittany: “Range Rover, candy apple red, on 24’s, with black leather interior.”
L.A: “What’s your favorite food?” Brittany: “Grilled Shrimp.”
L.A.: “Who’s your favorite player (man or woman, college or pro)?” Brittany: “LeBron James. He’s young yet amazing.”
L.A.: “Who’s your favorite team?”
Brittany: “Besides our boy’s basketball team it would be the Tennessee Lady Vols.”
L.A.: “What’s your favorite TV Show and movie?” Brittany: “Americas Next Top Model and Saw 2, hands down.“ L.A.: ”What type of music do you listen to and who is your favorite performer?” Brittany: “I listen to Rap, R&B, and gospel on Sunday. (lol) Besides Nelly, Ciara would be the next best performer.”
L.A.: “What do you like to do when you are not playing basketball?
Brittany: “I like to chill and go out with my friends. They’re always trying to get into something.”
L.A.: “Thanks for taking the time for a little Street Talk and good luck!” Brittany: “Thanks, it was my pleasure.”
