Jones led his Tigers past Tucker for a shot at a title.
The state 4-A boys finals would feature two of Georgia’s top programs, in the Tucker Tigers versus the Douglas Tigers. No matters what happens, a tiger must win.

Both teams would feature outstanding athletes and players. Tucker would bring shooting star Cameron “King Supreme” Tatum and Douglas County would counter with Jajuan Jones. Jones, a 6’6 senior from Dayton, Ohio, is averaging close to a triple double with 21.6 points, 9 rebounds, and 9 assists a game.

The game would get started with a lay up from Jones after a free-throw from Mark Harper. Damarius Pipkens would connect on a floater and Coach James Hartry would call a time out with the score 5-2, 4:37 left in the first period. After the timeout, Jones would score three points on a hard lay up and a free-throw. Cameron would scratch the score board with 2 free throws to get Tucker going in the right direction, followed by 2 more points by Mike McGhee (8-6) 2:05 left in the first period. After Tucker would take the lead to the score 10-8, Jones would close the first out on a between the legs move, pull up jumper to put Douglas back on top 12-10.

Jajuan and Cameron would step up the scoring in the second period. Jones would cross his defender up for the mid-range jumper and Cameron would dunk base line.

At the half Douglas 30 Tucker 24.

With a period high 6 points from Tucker senior Greg Boatwright, the Tucker Tigers would only be down one point in the third period ending score 49-50.

Tatum vs. Jones....

In the fourth period the stars would come out. Jones would nail a three-pointer, and then Cameron would drain a three pointer. The scoring would go back and forth, with 3:02 left in the game.  Tatum would then shoot a free throw to tie the game at 61.  Jones would nail a three-pointer followed by teammate Pipkens and the Douglas Tigers would gain a 4 point lead 67-63 with 1:21 left in the game.

Douglas County would turn to the great old scheme of keep away and with the clock preciously ticking away, clutch free-throw shooting from Dobbs, Chris Turner and D.J. Holbrook would send Douglas County to the Class 4-A state championship to face Columbia High School for the title.
