Klapp Presents - "Jabari"
Eboni Mitchell is next up for questioning
 |
| This Lady Panther is balling and loving it!! |
There was a faint beep coming out of Dekalb county on the 4SHOT Hoops radar throughout the basketball season. As the season progressed, the beep got louder. Being the inquisitive investigator I am, I had to hop on I-20 East to see what the fuss was all about. What I found was Eboni Mitchell. And I found that this young lady knows the meaning of being an all-around player.
Mitchell can be a floor general, distribute and take over when need be. An aggressive defender, Eboni makes if fun to watch basketball. Her hustle is outstanding. Her grittiness is impeccable.
And sitting down with me was just a minor technicality. This suspect is about to hit the “most wanted” list.
Klapp: Who is Eboni Mitchell?
Eboni: Eboni, is a nice humble person who is laid back and gets along with everyone.
Klapp: Who do you consider to be the most influential person in you life?
Eboni: My parents the late Darrell Mitchell and Valencia Mitchell and my grandmother, because they support me in everything I have done and still doing. I can count on them for anything know matter what.
Klapp: How long have you been playing basketball?
Eboni: I have been playing since I was six years old.
Klapp: What drives you as a player?
Eboni: Myself because I want to make it to the next level as a player and to do that I have to keep myself motivated.
Klapp: All money aside, if you could play in the NBA or WNBA, which one would it be and why?
Eboni: [WNBA] the reason is I love the game of basketball and I would like to play the game for my career and have young girls who play to look up to me as a role model.
Klapp: Who is the toughest player you’ve had to face this year?
Eboni: Nikitta Gartrell
Klapp: To you, what would make your season a success or failure?
Eboni: My success season is to be winning and bring attention to SOUTHWEST DEKALB HIGH SCHOOL basketball team. We as a team work real hard. I would love to win a state championship. That would be a BIG success for me.
Klapp: How do you prepare for your season?
Eboni: I work hard on every part of my game during the summer, but I spend more time on my weakness from the past season.
Klapp: What do you think of AAU competition?
Eboni: I really love playing AAU because you get to travel and play against some of the best players in the country and it is a faster pace basketball game.
Klapp: What’s your favorite food?
Eboni: I love crab legs, shrimp and steak.
Klapp: What your favorite past time?
Eboni: I just (chill) and watch music videos and play playstation 2 (NBA live 06), when I’m not at practice or a game.
Klapp: What’s in your cd player right now?
Eboni: Lil’ Wayne tha Carter II
Klapp: Nike, Adidas, or Reebok?
Eboni: Nike.
Klapp: Air One’s or high heels?
Eboni: Air one’s
Klapp: If you could be anything else besides a ballplayer, what would it be? Why?
Eboni: Sports Agent. The reason is because I will be able to represent other people and be apart of the game even if I am not playing and also make good money and travel.
Klapp: What do you feel is your greatest attribute on the court?
Eboni: Being able to see the whole court and having the control of the game.
Klapp: Ok, how about this one.....Name a song title that best
describes you. And tell me why.
Eboni: Sky is the Limit by B.I.G The reason I like that song is because what I set my mind to do there is no limit to it.
Klapp: What is your greatest basketball moment so far?
Eboni: It is when I started my first varsity basketball game as a Freshman at SouthWest Dekalb High school.
Klapp: Most disappointing?
Eboni: When we lost to Mays High school in the Sub-Region in over time last season.
Klapp: Alright Eboni, that's a wrap.
Eboni: Ok, thanks.
Off the record: Eboni you're a great individual and being a ballplayer is an innate ability you possess. Keep your drive and persistence and you can't help but to succeed. Be easy!!
