College RoundUp – Week 5
Reported by 4SHOT Sports Staff

Richmond 12 – Northeastern 7

Former Southwest DeKalb QB-Eric Ward
The University of Richmond “Spiders” of the Atlantic 10 Conference are currently ranked 7th in Division 1-AA and a large reason why is the play of former Southwest DeKalb QB-Eric Ward. Ward a 6-3, 195lb. redshirt freshman is the starting QB for the “Spiders”. This past weekend Ward didn’t have great stats (10-16 for 67 yards) but he was efficient enough to help keep Richmond undefeated (4-0) with a tough 12-7 win over Northeastern. Ward will need to have his A-Game this weekend as the 4-0 “Spiders” head North to tangle with No.1 ranked and undefeated University of New Hampshire.

Other players from Georgia on the Richmond roster include RB-Justin Forte (RS-FR., Walton H.S.), DL-Adam Abramowitz (FR.-Lassiter H.S.) and Pierre Turner (RS-FR., Collins Hill H.S.).

Georgia 14 - Ole Miss 9

Former Stephenson H.S. star RB-Gregg Lumpkin
Former Stephenson H.S. All-American RB-Kregg Lumpkin (6-1, 224lbs. RS-JR.) was reinserted back into the “Bulldogs” starting line-up this past weekend and responded with a career high 102-yards rushing helping UGA fend off a bunch of determined “Rebels”. Lump who has been out of the starting line-up since a season ending injury at the beginning of his sophomore year has been looking more like the Kregg Lumpkin of old and was rewarded for his efforts by Head Coach Mark Richt with the start against Ole Miss.

Former Tucker H.S. All-American Jr.-Thomas Brown had been the starter but Brown is currently a little out of sync and he’s trying to get his rhythm back, which he will. The No. 10 ranked “Dawgs” will need a lot bigger game from Lumpkin this coming weekend when the 13th ranked “Volunteers” from the University of Tennessee invade Athens, GA.

Former Newnan H.S. Track star WR-Demiko Goodman also had his best day as a “Bullldog” leading the team with 4 receptions for 71-yards.

Clemson 51 - Louisiana Tech 0

Former Douglass-Atl star RB-James Davis
What 4SHOT Sports already knew the rest of the country is finding out super fast and that is that former Douglass-Atl H.S. All-American RB-James Davis is one of the top backs in the country, just as he was in high school but nobody (top recruiting publications) wanted to believe it…Can you hear me now!.

In limited action last years ACC Freshman of the Year followed up a 4 touchdown performance against UNC with 2 more touchdowns and a game high 145-yards rushing to lead the 13th ranked Clemson “Tigers” to an easy win over Louisiana Tech.

Former Northside-WR H.S. All-American WR-Chansi Stuckey also had a big day with 4 catches for 100-yards and a touchdown.

Davis currently leads the ACC in rushing with 512-yards (4gms.) and is ranked 21st in the nation. His 11 touchdowns also has him ranked No. 1 in the ACC and tied for second in the nation with 4 other players.

Johnson’s 25 receptions have him ranked 39th in the nation and his 426-yards have him ranked 22nd.

Wheeler a Columbus, GA native has been a monster on defense the last few weeks. He finished the game with eight tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, including two sacks for minus-22 yards and a forced fumble, which proved to be one of the key plays in the game.

Georgia Southern 24 - Western Carolina 14

Former Brookwood H.S. star RB-Chris Covington (in Brookwood uniform)
