What a Great Night to Vent!

201 is good enough for Tamburo

Suwannee, GA – Peachtree Ridge H.S.

Michael Tamburo 201 yards in the air passing for 3 touchdowns and ran for 1 TD.
The game between the North Gwinnett “Bulldogs” versus the Peachtree Ridge “Lions” was nothing nice. Head Coach Bob Sphire would lead his team in to hostile territory (Suwannee, GA) to take on a 4-2 Lions team while the Bulldogs looked to continue their winning streak at 6-0 and hold the title as the number 1 ranked team in class 5-A.

The first quarter would be all zeros. The defense for the Lions would be lead by Cameron Heyward, who would apply pressure on Bulldogs quarterback Michael Tamburo and bring the run game to a stop.

The North Gwinnett players seemed flustered as they risk forfeiting previous games due to use of an ineligible player. The Georgia High School Association has until Tuesday to come up with a verdict. Coach Bob Sphire stated, “If it’s burning in their guts, they got the chance to just go out and vent.” When the second quarter kicked off, the Bulldogs began to vent.

After an interception thrown by future Ole Miss Rebel Zachary Graham on a fake put attempt, the Bulldogs Tamburo would drive and score from 5 yards out to put the Bulldogs out front on the score board 7-0. While Tamburo racked up 201 yards in the air passing for 3 touchdowns and running for 1 TD, the Bulldogs looked unstoppable. Tamburos favorite receiver was Ryan McDaniel who caught 7 for 101 yards on the night. Zach Graham out passed Tamburo on the night with 210 yards but his 3 interceptions didn’t help the team.

Tamburo would connect with Ryan McDaniel on a 47 yard bomb to begin the third on their second play to put the Bulldogs way out 24-7.

Peachtree Ridge falls to 4-3, while the streak continues for the number 1 ranked team in the state at 7-0.

Finals Score:  North Gwinnett 38 Peachtree Ridge 20
