Lose two and go home! DAY-TONA
The Warhawks Looking Like 2005
Is the world ready for Jason Heyward?
Henry County High School - McDonough, GA
 |
| Jason Heyward has committed to UCLA but could go first round of the MLB 2007 Draft. |
When I pulled up to the first round match up of the class 3-A state playoffs between the Cairo “Syrupmakers” versus the Henry County “Warhawks” it was already 10-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning, so no need to talk about that game. (Quick Note) Warhawks starting pitcher 6’2 junior Jamal Mann finished with 10 strikeouts. (WOW)
In the second game of the best of a 3 game series, the Warhawks would lead

off the inning and strike first. With the pitch count 3-0 (3 balls 0 strikes) Jason Heyward would drive in the first run on a triple with a blast into the left field wall and it was down hill from there. Tyler Norton drives in a run on a shot into the gap bring in Jeremy Boyd moving the score to 3-0 in the top of the 1st inning. The Sypermarkers would change pitchers after one inning and Heyward would drive in Blake Newalu from first base on another triple into the fence on a 3-1 count moving the score to 5-0 in the top of the 2nd inning. Boyd would come up next with a hit to bring Heyward from third base and that was it. Final Score: Henry County 10 Cairo 0.
Look out for those Warhawks. They won it all in 2005.
Round 1 Message of the Week!
James 4:2 & Luke 11:9 “You do not have, because you do not ask God.” / "So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”
Situation: 10th grader Mitch Frazier wanted to play on the varsity team but everyone knew coach Flint “Mr. No” Thomas answer to everything so they didn’t bother. One day after practice before the big rival game Mitch took a chance an asked”Coach, you think I can play tomorrow?” Coach Thomas looked at him with a smile on his face and said YES!

Kennesaw Mountain ain’t no joke I told yall (Country Grammar). You still have time to cast your vote on the class 5-A champs. Get your tickets now for June 1 it’s going to be a big one. O, I forgot the Mustangs beat up on the South Gwinnett Comets in two straight. LAUGH NOW!
Game 1: Kennesaw Mountain 8 South Gwinnett 3 / Game 2: Kennesaw Mountain 14 South Gwinnet 6
Hit Out
Harrison took the hit out on the Parkview Panthers taking care of business in 2 straight. I looked for the Panthers to at least make it pass the first round behind the bat of Zach Cone. Hoyas with the HIT OUT!
Game 1: Harrison 15 Parkview 6 / Game 2: Harrison 16 Parkview 4
Steakhouse
The Kell Longhorns seem to have some of the best pitching in the state class 5-A, as they silenced the bats of the Norcross Blue Devils in 2 straight games. Well Blue Devils next year, enjoy the STEAKHOUSE.
Game 1: Kell 3 Norcross 0 / Game 2: Kell 2 Norcross 0
Randy Moss
Just because the Raiders lost Randy Moss doesn’t mean they wasn’t going to bring the bats out on Johnson out of Savannah. It was a long bus ride back to 3012 Sunset Boulevard. Did you know Moss can still run a 4.29, WOW!
Game 1: Redan 12 Johnson 1 / Game 2: Redan 17 Johnson 0

Gambler
Northgate is a team full of potential but if you a gambling man you take your chances by choosing this team. One minute the Vikings look like the team to beat then others times, let’s just say you better off not rolling the dice. The Vikings did want they need to do in the first round beating Evans to move on to play Westside, Macon on May 16. Good luck! Game 1: Northgate 11 Evans 0 / Game 2: Northgate 3 Evans 2
No Secret
It’s no secret that I like the Marist “War Eagles” to win it in all in Class 4-A. The “War Eagles” have the pitching, bats and great coaching staff. Believe coach Mike Strickland will have the boys ready for Loganville. Marist handled their business in the first round winning 2 straight over Dalton 10-3 & 10-2.
Passed Down
Heritage to me personally have one of the best teams in Class 4-A. The only thing about them is that they can be scary or streaky sometimes. After the losing the first game of the 3 game series to Cherokee 9-3, it look scary for the Patriots. The Patriots would bounce back to win the next two games to advance to the second round.

Champs R Here
You can’t mention the state baseball championship without mentioning Cartersville. The Canes have won 3 state championships in school history (2001,2002 & 2003). What a match up we have next as they face the defending champs in Blessed Trinity on May 16. Well I guess we know where I will be, like Muhammad Ali (That Rhymed). The champs are here. Cartersville beat Flowery Branch in 2 straight. Game 1: Cartersville 4 Flowery Branch 1 / Game 2: Cartersville 7 Flowery Branch 0
White Out
Ok so I chose the Dunwoody Wildcats because one of my best friends Antonio White played for the Wildcats in 1996. Tonio they better win or it’s going to be a White Out! The Wildcats have plenty of bats but can their pitching hold them up. The Wildcats feature one of the best young catchers in the game, let’s see if that’s enough to get pass Cass in the next round. Wildcats defeat Monroe Area in 2 straight. Game 1: Dunwoody 5 Monroe Area 0 / Game 2: Dunwoody 17 Monroe Area 0.
