Chargers back to the big dance
A Rematch of the 2006 finals
Eagles Landing Christian Academy - McDonough, GA
The Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy “Chargers” took 3 games to finish off the Jefferson “Dragon”. The Dragons Tyler Hill had enough hit in his bat to shake up the world. After the Chargers won game one, the Dragons would bounce back winning game three 8-4. Just when I gave the Dragons a chance to pull off the upset, their defense would go down hill.
The Charges would put up 5 runs in the last two innings and the Dragons would have to think about next year. The Chargers will defend their 2006 crown against last year foe in the Calvary Day “Cavaliers” in Savannah on Friday. The winner claims this year 2007 single A title. Look for Calvary Day to be ready after blasting Kut’s favorite Gordon Lee in 2 straight (2-1, 10-0) to host the championship game. Good luck to both teams.
Wildcats defeat the Trojans for title shot
On the Road to Columbus
Dunwoody High School - Dunwoody, GA
The Dunwoody “Wildcats” would take 3 games to beat the marching “Trojans” from Carrollton to play Columbus in the state Class 3-A finals. The player that stood out was the Wildcats Chris Epps. Epps would pitch in game three after a complete game the day before. The Wildcats blasted the Trojans in game one 11-0, but then turned around to lose the second 8-5.
As the Trojans looked to make their move in game three, Epps number would be called in the third inning.
When it was all said and done the bat of Grant Hollis sealed the deal on a 3 run blast out of the park in the third inning. In the bottom of the fourth inning senior Drew Fowlkes would take Epps deep over the center field to move the score to 8-4 and give the Trojans some hope. The final take: the Trojans pitching just ran out gas.
The Columbus "Blue Devils" put the Wildcats out of the final four last year. Can the Wildcats get revenge or will it be the same ole' results? Take a trip to Columbus on Friday for the final results and see who is crown 2007 state Class-3A champs.
Final Score: Dunwoody 14 Carrollton 5
