Moore era starts at UCONN
Former Collins Hill star scores 21 and 14

Former 4SHOT Hoops 2-time "Player of the Year", Maya Moore now a freshman at UCONN
Former 4SHOT Hoops 2-time "Player of the Year" and McDonald's All-American Maya Moore (Collins Hill H.S.) is off to a good start as a freshman for the No. 2 ranked Univ. of Connecticut. In two pre-season games Moore has averaged 19 points and 7 rebounds.

(November 6, 2007) - Playing in only her 2nd college game Maya Moore (Collins Hill H.S.) displayed the skills that made her a 3-time first team 4SHOT Hoops All-State performer scoring 21 points, grabbing 5 boards, dished out 4 assists and recorded 3 blocked shots as the Lady Huskies bounced Southern Connecticut 119-58. Teammate and former Naismith High School "Player of the Year ", sophomore All-American Tina Charles led UCONN in scoring with 24 points and 9 rebounds.

Former Columbus H.S. star Ketia Swanier
Another former 4SHOT Hoops All-Star senior Ketia Swanier (Columbus High School) also finished in double figures with 11 points.

In her first college game a few nights earlier Moore, the former 4SHOT Hoops 2-time "Player of the Year" scored 14 points and grabbed 9 boards against the USA National Team which included the likes of former college All-Americans and current WNBA All-Stars Seimone Augustus, Lisa Leslie, Sue Bird, Swin Cash and Diana Taurasi. The “Lady Huskies” fell behind 45-32 at the half and made a valiant comeback in the second half before falling 90-74.

Moore was featured on the cover of the 4SHOT Hoops Magazine last season along with current NC Sate freshman J.J. Hickson
On a team peppered with former McDonald All-Americans Moore has already established herself as one of the go-to players for the "Lady Huskers" Head Coach Geno Auriemma. But Coach Auriemma cautions that his future All-American still has a lot of things to learn about the college game.

Coach Auriemma's quotes after Moore's first game against the USA National Team: "She got fourteen points and nine rebounds and she was looking around like she had no idea what she was doing. A couple times I saw her pump-fake herself into getting guarded. You got a chance to see what she doesn’t know. What she doesn’t know are things that can be taught. What she already does well you can’t teach. She has a nose for the ball and she has a knack for being in the right place at the right time. She wants to shoot and she can get her own shot. Every possession she wants to be involved. You can’t teach that. We saw enough to see that it’s only going to get better and better.”
