Class AA Semifinals

Buford (13-0) vs. Dublin (11-2)

Wolves devour Dublin

You need more than luck to beat Buford

Georgia Dome - Atlanta, GA

Buford FB-Tyler King clears the airways as he flys over for 1 of his 3 touchdowns
Atlanta, GA - Former ABC Hall of Fame broadcaster Keith Jackson use to refer to massive overpowering college linemen as “Bell Cows”, well he would have done the same thing if he had seen the linemenat Buford. I mean they have “Bell Cows” all up and down their offensive and defensive lines and against Dublin their mission was to seek and destroy.

Led by massive linemen and linebackers DL/OL-Omar Hunter, DL/OL-Dallas Lee, DE-Tyler King, LB-TJ Pridemore, OL-JJ Miller and LB-Landon Anderson the “Big Bad Wolves” from Buford just dominated the line of scrimmage. On Dublin’s first possession they swarmed all over Dublin QB-Rashard Smith and RB-Andreakeas Rollins and the swarm didn’t stop until the whistle blew to end the game…”I think they stopped after that”.

Dublin’s defense didn’t just rollover, they made a few big hits to let Buford know they did show up. DL-Shawn Holliman sacked Buford QB-Twoey Hosch to force a forth down and 7 from the Dublin 34-yard line on the “Wolves” first possession. Buford called a timeout and decided to go for it. Hosch hit WB-Cody Getz crossing over the middle for 12-yards and a first down on the 17-yard line.

RB-Demetris Murray picked up a tough 10-yards and then scored from 2-yards out to put the “Wolves” on the board. The PAT by K-Lawson McGlon made the score 7-0 with 6:46 left in the first-quarter.

Dublin QB-Rashad Smith was harrassed all day by the likes of Landon Anderson (#34) and Dallas Lee (#64)
Buford’s defense continued to lay the lumber as DB-Cody Vining just blasted a Dublin ball-carrier and Lee record another “Wovles” sack forcing another Dublin punt.

With 2:47 left in the quarter Murray broke loose for 36-yards and his second touchdown of the game to give Buford a 14-0 lead.

Dublin’s offensive had to feel like they were going up against an immovable wall because they just could not penetrate the Buford offense, not today, not tomorrow or next week, Buford’s defense was just that dominate today.

Meanwhile the offense continued to capitalize on the great field position their defense was giving them. Tyler King who doubles as the Wolves fullback took flight and dove into the endzone from 5-yards out as they increased their lead to 21-0.

King wasn’t through yet, with 2:47 left in the half he drug about 4 Dublin defenders on his back into the endzone for his second touchdown of the game increasing the Buford lead to 28-0 and the rout was on.

“All hail to the King” as Tyler King finished off a bigtime first half with his third touchdown scoring from 6-yards out. McGlon drilled his forth PAT as Buford took an untouchable 35-0 lead.

Dublin tried to make something happen before the half moving the ball to the Buford 25-yard line but it just wasn’t meant to be as Buford’s Demetris Murray picked off a Smith pass and returned it 47-yards to the Dublin 30-yard line as the half came to a merciful end.

Buford RB-Demetrius Murray takes flight on this touchdown run
The second half was pretty much a formality for Buford, DB-Cody Vining was rewarded for his outstanding play when he picked off a Smith pass and returned it 42-yards for a touchdown to give the Wolves a 42-0 lead.

With the “Mercy Rule” now in affect the clock couldn’t run fast enough for Dublin as the “Luck of the Irish” had run out for the 2007 season. Buford finished off the “Fighting Irish” when reserve RB-Storm Johnson (how’s that for a football name) broke several tackles on his way to a 17-yard touchdown run.

“Washington” should we give them the trophy now? you already know!

Final Score: Buford 48 - Dublin 0
