Street Talk – “Live in L.A.”
with Brandon Reed
Year in and year out since their inception the Whitefield Academy Wolfpack (a small Class A school) have turned out some of the best talent in the state and this year is no exception. Head Coach Tyrone Johnson’s 07-08 Wolfpack team boost some 4 or 5 D-1 prospects that includes 6-3 junior All-Star Brandon Reed. “B-Reed” is a real baller … period.
The bigger the game, the better he plays. He can handle, play D, drive to the hole and his jumper is getter better everyday…so keep playing him for the drive and get what ..burnt from the outside.
I caught up with the junior All-Star to get his thoughts on his game, school, dating and a variety of other topics.
L.A.: “Who have been some of the most influential people in your life?”
Brandon: “I always keep God first and then comes my Family”
L.A.: “What has been one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?”
Brandon: “Scoring 31 points in the 2007 Championship game”
L.A.: “What moment(s) would you most like to forget?”
Brandon: “Losing the past two championships (2006 & 2007)”
L.A.: “What is the strongest part of your game?”
Brandon: “I believe the strongest part of my game is taking the ball to the hole”
L.A.: “What do you think you need to work on to take your game to the next level?”
Brandon: “I really need to work on getting stronger. I’m hiring a trainer to help me with that. Also I need to work on my ball handling”
L.A.: “Who has been one of the toughest players you ever had to play against and who is the best high school player you personally have ever seen?”
Brandon: “The toughest player I ever played against was Javaris Crittention hands down. But personally the best high school player I seen was JC”
L.A.: “Without tipping your hand, give me the names of some colleges that you wouldn’t mind playing for?”
Brandon: “UNC, Georgia Tech, Georgetown and Florida”
L.A.: “Tell me something about yourself that people wouldn’t know by just looking at you?”
Brandon: “Well, I enjoy music a lot and I’m sort of artistic “
L.A.: “Do you have a nickname?”
Brandon: “My friends call me B-Reed”
L.A.: “If you could change anything in the world today what would it be?”
Brandon: “The black society and the way people live their lives”
L.A.: “If you could meet anyone (not an athlete) in the world (past or present) who would it be and why?”
Brandon: “Martin Luther King Jr. because without him, we wouldn’t be able to play this game called basketball”
L.A.: “Now we are going to do a little something called “CONFESSIONS of a Player”
CONFESSIONS of a Player
L.A.: “As an athlete is it easier to get a date or harder?”
Brandon: “Both actually; easy because girls like athletic guys but its hard sometime because you don’t know what their intentions really are”
L.A.: “If you could date any woman in the world who would it be?”
Brandon: “It would be either Megan Good or Christina Millan”
L.A.: “Do you get special treatment at home because you play sports?”
Brandon: “Nope, I actually get the worse treatment (lol)”
L.A.: “If you were not an athlete do you think people would treat you different (explain)?”
Brandon: “That’s a hard one, I really never thought of that but I guess they would. But I really don’t know”
L.A.: “Can you cook, and I don’t mean boil an egg (laugh)?”
Brandon: “Yea I can cook breakfast sometimes”
L.A.: “When you step out, do you like to be noticed or recognized (not in swelled head kind of way)?”
Brandon: “Not really, I’m not the type of person that wants to be noticed all the time”
L.A.: “When you are participating in your sport are you cocky or confident or both?”
Brandon: “I’m never cocky, just confident”
L.A.: “Keep it real now, do you use the fact that you are an athlete to sometimes get your way?”
Brandon: “Who doesn’t (lol). I do sometimes”
L.A.: “Have you ever backed away from a challenge and later told yourself that that will never happen again?”
Brandon: “A couple times in my high school career”
L.A.: “Who is your favorite teacher in school?”
Brandon: “My favorite teacher is Mr. Hyde because he is real cool and he knows how to keep class interesting”
L.A.: “What subject do you like most and which subject do you like least?”
Brandon: “I enjoy Math the most and Spanish the least”
L.A.: “Last CONFESSION, if you could sit down with anybody in the world past or present who would it be and what would you talk to the about?”
Brandon: “It would be Michael Jordan. I would ask him questions about his work ethic and how he transformed himself into the player he was”
Until you next CONFESSION, Player ….. Keep it Real
