Wolverines” versus the Fayette County “Tigers” was a battle to get into the state class 4-A finals. The winner would get the opportunity to face the Westlake Lions or the Columbia Eagles. At the end of the day, the game had to be played.
The tip off would go to the Tigers but the Wolverines would score the first points on a free throw from power forward Obitaiya Edwards. Mfon Udofia would score next for the Wolverines on a deep three pointer to move the score 4-0 and it would be on. Noel Johnson would get the Tigers on the scoreboard on a shot off the glass and the Tigers would begin to roar. The Tigers would push the lead to 9 points on 2 deep three pointers from Johnson with 3:33 to go in the first period. The Wolverines would get down by as much as 11 points but Mfon would refuse to let it get any further as he score 11 of the Wolverines first period 12 points.
The Tigers Addison Flynn would open the second period up with a three-pointer to extend the led to 9 points 21-12 with 7:45 to go. A Huge dunk by junior Stephen Hill would swing the momentum as they cut back into the lead by 5 points with 3:28 to go in the half. Edwards would comeback and score a basket to cut the lead down to 3 points 25-22. Brandon Boykin would not let the Wolverines escape as he would hit the basket to move the game into double digits at the buzzer to go into the half 35-24.

You had to be there to see it. Noel hit a three pointer so far, the NBA can’t measure it.
In the fourth period, the Tigers would turn the ball over more than a apple and the Wolverines would get right back into the game. Mfon would drain a three pointer to cut the lead down to 2 points 52-50 with 5:27 left in the game. Noel would pick up his fourth foul in the game and the Wolverines fans would go crazy. It wouldn’t be long before Johnson would come right back in the game and hit a three pointer to go with his game high 29 points to seal the deal.
