| Washington Report Dequan Jones 4SHOT Hoops 1st team All State. |
It was really over before it started. The Wheeler Wildcats have won the state title so many time in the last 8 years I would have to count later. The thing about it they would have to go through the Hiram Hornets who beat Stephenson 70-65.
The game would get on its way with a deep three-pointer by Alex Wagner and Arsenio Nuckles to put the Hornets up a quick 6-0. Wheelers Dequan Jones and Arti Stewart would answer from down town on 2 three pointers to even the odds. The first period was a three point shot out as Stewart Clark, Mario Roland and Nuckles drained three pointers to give the Hornets the lead going into the second period 19-12.
The Wildcats would tie the game at 24 on a three-pointer by Phil Taylor. The Wildcats then started to pull away after 2 monster dunks by Jones. Taylor would score on a floater to end the half with the Wildcats up 37-26.
(End of the third period: Wheeler 48 Hiram 38)
At the beginning of the fourth period, Dequan would catch the alley-oop and dunk it backwards. The Wildcats would roll from there, as they move on to the 2008 class 5-A state championship game. The Wildcats will face the winner of the Savannah versus Norcross game. If the Blue Devils get pass the Blue Jackets it would create a rematch from last years first round and the most anticipate 5-A game in a while.
Final Score: Wheeler 68 Hiram 54
