Forsyth Central “Bulldogs” vs. Southwest DeKalb “Panthers”

SWD rolls Forsyth Central

Johnson rushes for 123-yards and 2 TD’s

James R. Halford Stadium – Clarkston, GA

SWD RB-Michael johnson scored 3 TD's and rushed for over 100 yards.
Clarkson, GA – It was beautiful Saturday afternoon and the temperature was hot as the sun beat down on the turf at James R. Halford Stadium and unfortunately for the Bulldogs from Forsyth Central the Panthers from Southwest DeKalb were just as hot as they rolled to an easy win.

The one thing you don’t do with bulldogs is tease them so SWD went right to work. On the Panthers first play from scrimmage quarterback Daniel Litt hit WR-Jacoby Mitchell with a short hitch pass that the talented wide-out hauled in and raced 35-yards to the Forsyth Central thirty-yard line. A couple of players later the Panthers ran the same play and Mitchell took it in from 30-yards out for the touchdown. The PAT by kicker Preston McCarthy made it 7-0.

The Panthers defense led by DE-Allen Strippling, DE-Terrence Smith, DL-Jabari Chaney, DB-Jonathan Mincy and DB-Richard Hughes crowed the line of scrimmage and shutdown the Bulldogs option attack.

SWD wide receiver Jacoby Mitchell dives into the endzone for a touchdown.
Southwest’s remained hot as Litt rambled 37-yards to the Forsyth Central fifteen yard-line. Back-to-back penalties put the Panthers in a second and twenty-five situation but not to worry; a screen pass to running back Michael Johnson turned into a sweet 25-yard touchdown run. Johnson broke several tackles on his way to the score and a 14-0 Panthers lead.

Things didn’t get much better for the Bulldogs in the second quarter, with their offense unable to sustain any consistency on offense the defense was forced to spend time on the hot stadium turf than they wanted to.

Sensing that Forsyth Central defense was starting to wither the Panthers continued to pound them with their bevy of running backs Johnson, Richard Hughes and Kendrum Malcome. Facing a second down and six from the Bulldogs thirty, Johnson took a handoff made a cut to his left and raced 30-yards for his second touchdown of the game. McCarthy’s PAT made the score 21-0.

Anthony Allen, Jonathan Mincy cobine to bing down a Bulldogs receiver as teammates Muhasibi Wakeel and Richard Hughes look on.
The Bulldogs finally managed to move the ball into Southwest DeKalb’s territory on a nice 38-yard return to the Panthers forty-seven by their All-Everything performer Dustin Canon. A penalty on Southwest DeKalb tacked on an additional 10-yards moving the ball to the thirty-seven. The Bulldogs were able to move the ball to the twenty-four yard line before turning it over on downs.

With time running down in the half Malcome busted loose for 42-yards to the Forsyth Central twenty-four yard line. Another Malcome run moved the ball to the twelve. A couple of plays later Johnson recorded his third touchdown of the game from 6-yards out. McCarthy’s PAT gave the Panthers a commanding 28-0 halftime lead.

The second half was just like a scrimmage game for Southwest DeKalb as they continued to pound the Bulldogs scoring two more touchdowns as the won their second game of the young season.
