Street Talk: “On the Block”
with
Joe
Moore

Back in the day when you needed the low down or the 4-1-1 on what was happening or what was going to go down you hit the streets and you just won’t go anywhere for the info. There was one place only that you could go to get that kind of Street Talk…“On the Block”.

Like I do, I ventured out “On the Block” to meet up with Joe Moore a ferocious 6-0, 205lbs senior who for two years has manned up and played out of position at offensive guard for perennial state power Tucker High School. A natural strong safety or mike-linebacker Moore is an athletic player who runs a legitimate 4.4, 4.5 forty and he is a very good student. I could give you the names of some defensive linemen and ball carriers that he has iced but under the Street Talk Witness Protective Program Act of 1999 I’m not at liberty to do so at this time.

L.A.:  “What’s been happening with you and how has your senior year been going so far?

Joe: “I’ve just been concentrating on school and football. My senior year is going good.”

L.A.: “I have seen you play several times and I can’t remember one time when you didn’t deliver at least one big hit on a defensive player. Is it one of your goals each game to sort of pancake somebody?
Joe: “Yea, I always try to put somebody on their butt every chance I get.”

L.A.:  “If you were a college recruiter what would you say to Joe Moore to get him to come to your college and play?
Joe: “I would tell him that we have great academics program, a great football program, and all of our players have an equal opportunity to start.”

L.A.:  “Without giving anything away, tell more a few colleges that you wouldn’t mind playing for?
Joe: “FAMU, Savannah State, UAB, Troy, FSU, UB, UCF, Grambling.”

L.A.: “What position do you feel your agility, aggressiveness, size and speed best fit and why?

Joe: “I feel that Iinebacker fits my skill level best because I love to hit people and run from sideline to sideline and make plays.”

L.A.: “Last season you guys had one of the best teams that Tucker has ever yielded but you lost a heartbreaker to Northside in the semifinals. How does this years team compare and did that loss fuel your desire to come back this year and win it all?

Joe: “Last years team was good but this years teams knows what it takes to win it all and we wont let that happen again.”

L.A.:  “Who has been one of the toughest players you ever had to play against and what made them so tough?”

Joe: “Abry Jones because he was the hardest player that I’ve had to block and he played hard every play and he was so big and strong.”

L.A.: “Tell me something about yourself that people wouldn’t know by just looking at you?

Joe: “That I’m always joking around and I love to laugh.”

L.A.:  “Who have been some of the most influential people in your life”?

Joe: “My dad and my brother.”

L.A.: “If you could change anything in the world today what would it be?

Joe: “Gas prices”

L.A.:  “What has been one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
Joe: “Playing in the Georgia Dome on TV.”

L.A.: “Now we are going to do a little something called “REAL TALK”

Moore likes to chill with his boys when he's not rolling over people on the gridiron.
REAL TALK,  take one!

L.A.: “As an athlete is it easier to get dates or harder?”

Joe: “Its easier”

L.A.: “Do you get special treatment at home and in school because you are a football player?”

Joe: “Not at school but at home I don’t have to wash the dishes.”

L.A.: “If you were not an athlete do you think people would treat you different?”

Joe: “I hope not.”

L.A.: “Your father (Robert Moore) was an outstanding basketball player back in the day. Can he still play or is he washed up (lol)? Can you beat him playing?
Joe: “He can still shoot but he’s still washed up but I’m not that good at basketball so he would probably win.”

L.A.: “You played little league football for Tucker and Tucker’s little league football is considered some of the best in the state. Being that I’m originally from Niagara Falls, N.Y. the Cataract All-Stars had and still do have the top program. Coach Wayne “O” from the All-Stars feels that his teams would come down here and whip up on any of those teams, could they? Would the games be close?
Joe: “Naw, it wouldn’t be close, they would just be wasting gas if they came down here.”

L.A.:
“When you are participating in your sport are you cocky, confidant, or both?”
Joe: “Both”

L.A.: “Keep it Real”, do you use the fact that you are a star athlete to sometimes get your way?”
Joe: “Naw, it probably wouldn’t work.”

L.A.: “Who is your favorite teacher in school?”

Joe: “Mr. Futrell”

L.A.: “What are your favorite and least favorite subjects in school?

Joe: “Favorite: Latin… Least Favorite: Literature.”

That’s “REAL TALK” peace out!

A few years ago Moore was just a little tiger cub now he's a full fledged TIGER.
L.A.: “What is your favorite TV Show and Movie?”
Joe: “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Head of State.”

L.A.: “What type of hobbies do you have?”
Joe: “Chillin with my friends and going to parties.”

L.A.: “What type of music do you like and do you have a favorite artist or group?”

Joe: “Lil Wayne and T.I.”

L.A:  “What’s your favorite food?”
Joe:  “Hot wings”

L.A.:  “Who’s your favorite player, college or professional (any sport)?”
Joe: “Allen Iverson and Ed Reed”

L.A.:  “Who’s your favorite team, college or professional (any sport)?”
Joe:  “FSU”

L.A.: “Would you like to give a shout out to some of your people?”

Joe:  “My goons Marcus, Rick, Mack, Click-Clack, Kiivis, JD, Rob, T, Nard, Lips, D. Harris, Carl”

L.A.: Joe, It’s been a pleasure watching you work, always Keep It Real. So until I’m “On the Block” in your neighborhood …PEACE

If you want to talk “On the Block"  …holla at me

This is Larry “L.A.” Williams …PEACE!
