Street Talk
with Sydney Wallace

If you haven’t heard the name Sydney Wallace then you’d better ask somebody because this young lady is all that and more. Just a sophomore Wallace also known as “SYD” is averaging close to 24ppg this season for Northview H.S.; she dropped 37 on North Forsyth earlier this season. When the signal goes out “SYD” shows up ready to ball. I got a chance to “Keep It Real” with the heralded sophomore on Street Talk.

L.A.:  Who have been some of the most influential people in your life?

Sydney: God, family and mostly my dad and friends.

L.A.:  What has been one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
Sydney: Last year when my high school team made it to the final game of our regional tournament.  It was the first time in school history.

L.A.:  What moment(s) would you most like to forget?

Sydney: When we lost the regional championship game in the final seconds.

L.A.: What is the strongest part of your game?

Sydney: My ball handling and speed.

L.A.:   What do you think you need to work on to take your game to the next level?

Sydney: Being a better ball distributor and getting in better shape. Also, being more vocal on the court.

L.A.:  Who has been one of the toughest players you ever had to play against and who is the best high school player you personally have ever seen?

Sydney: Jai Forney, of Butler High School in Charlotte, NC.  The best I’ve personally seen is Maya Moore.

L.A.:  Without tipping your hand, give me the names of some colleges that you wouldn’t mind playing for?

Sydney: Duke, UGA, Tennessee, Florida, Miami, Louisville etc.

L.A.: Tell me something about yourself that people wouldn’t know by just looking at you?

Sydney:  That I’m a sophomore that just turned 15 last December.

L.A.: Do you have a nickname?

Sydney: Yes.  Syd and “Kobe.” lol

L.A.: If you could change anything in the world today what would it be?

Sydney: The cost to go to the movies.  At $9.00, that is too much.  lol

L.A.:  If you could meet anyone (not an athlete) in the world (past or present) who would it be and why?

Sydney: Martin Luther King Jr. because of his impact on history around the world.

L.A.: “Now we are going to do a little something called “CONFESSION”

Without a doubt SYD is one of 4SHOT Hoops top 5 sophomores.
CONFESSION
L.A.: As an athlete is it easier to get a date or harder?Sydney: Neither. lol

L.A.: Do you get special treatment at home because you play sports?

Sydney: NO.  lol

L.A.: Have you ever heard your parent(s) yelling (hustle, get moving, you can do better than that etc.) and it just irked you? (It could have been in little league, middle school, whenever).

Sydney: Always. Lol.  They have kind of calmed it down though.

L.A.: Do you like to hear how good you are or what you need to do to get better?

Sydney: Both.

L.A.: If you were not an athlete do you think people would treat you different (explain)?

Sydney: No. I’m just me.

L.A.: Can you cook, and I don’t mean boil an egg (laugh)?
Sydney: If you give me a cookbook but I don’t know how it would turnout.

L.A.: When you are participating in your sport are you cocky or confidant, or both?
Sydney: Confident but not cocky. Cockiness is not cute. lol

L.A.: Keep it Real now, do you use the fact that you are an athlete to sometimes get your way?

Sydney: No.
