Banneker “Lady Trojans” vs. Northgate “Lady Vikings”

Banneker upends Northgate

Jayda Lloyd nets 24

Banneker H.S. – College Park, GA

Northgate's Alysa Lewis (l) and Banneker's Jayda Lloyd (r) battled each other all night. They scored 20 and 24 points respectively.
College Park, GA – The Lady Trojans from Banneker H.S. are going to go as far as twin Jayda Lloyd can take them and Saturday night against Northgate H.S. the 5-8 senior led her team to a hard fought nineteen point win. Jayda’s twin Jayla chipped in with 5 points. Just a note Northgate played without 4SHOT Hoops All-Star Brianna Banks who was ill.

When the game started out it looked as if Banneker’s Chanel Burse was going to have a huge game scoring 11 first quarter points as the Lady Trojans jumped out to a 12-6 lead. Northgate would battle back behind the inside play of Alysa Lewis to trailed 16-10 at the end of the first quarter.

Banneker’s pressure defense gave Northgate a lot of problems in the second quarter forcing them into several turnovers and rushed shot attempts.

Jalisa DeLoach did a nice job for Banneker scoring 9 points.
In the second quarter Burse cooled off despite knocking down a three-pointer but no matter because Jayda took up the slack scoring 12 points; Jalisa DeLoach also contributed with a pair of hoops for Banneker. Eric Albers would hit a pair of long-range jumpers for Northgate but they still trailed 37-17 heading into the half.

Lewis continued to impress me with her determination and her ability to block shots; she also did a nice job of scoring around the basket, which she can attest to by her ten third quarter points. Northgate would start applying a little full court pressure of their own which help limit Banneker to just six third quarter points.

Northgate's Erica Albers drives to score 2 of her 11 points.
The forth quarter was like a track meet as both teams raced up and down the court trading baskets and that was unfortunately for Northgate because even though they were scoring points they were giving up just as many.

Jayda would finish off a nice game going 5 for 5 from the line as Banneker went on to a solid but hard fought victory.

The Final Score: Banneker 65 – Northgate 47

Scoring Recap

Banneker: Jayda Lloyd led all scorers with a game high 24 points. Chanel Burse scored 17 and Jalisa DeLoach added 9.
