Decatur, GA - The “Jaguars” of Stephens high school enters tonight match up 8-2 in the region and looks to improve to 9-2 with a victory over the “Lions” from ML King high school. The Lions are 4-6 in the region and looks to have something say about going 9-2. Stephenson boast the Dekalb county leading scorer in Adrian Coleman, heading to UAB to play for coach Mike Davies and the “Blazer Nation” next year. One thing about tonight’s match up, there wouldn’t be any defense played.
The first baskets of the game would go to the Jaguars Jonathan Tinch, who would drain two three-pointers and go in for a lay up. The Lions would keep things close to start the second period 27-24, until sophomore point guard Alex Ordu would nail a pull up jumper and Anthony Freeman would hit a three pointer to increase the lead by eight points with 6:50 to go in the second period 32-24. Tinch would not stop scoring as he would score baseline with a left hand shot of the glass. The defensive for the Jaguars would step up as senior point guard Kevin Dukes would get a steal from Curtis Diamond to go in for a easy lay up. Adrian Coleman would get a put back at the buzzer to end the first half with 10 points 54-42 in favor of the Jaguars.
The scoring would turn up even more in the second period, as Coleman and Dukes would drain back to back three-pointers to cause coach Eric Mance to call a timeout.
It was only right that Coleman in the game on a furious dunk to bring the well traveled Jaguar fans to their feet. In the end Coleman was 33 points too much.
