McDonough, GA – The Soaring Eagles from Eagles Landing MS used the inside play of C. Burden, D. Bell and C. Holloway to control the glass at both ends of the court as they dominated the smaller Woodland team to capture 3rd place.
Holloway scored four quick points for Eagles Landing as they took an early 8-4 lead. Jamal Tookes, Woodland’s tallest player did a nice job of battling the taller Eagles Landing team and Frank Turner, who looks like his going to be outstanding at whatever sports he chooses to excel in helped the Wolfpack tie the score at 8-8.

Eagles Landing’s point guard B. Drewberry did a great job of controlling the tempo of the game; he led a late 4-0 spurt to give his team a 12-8 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Eagles Landing opened up a 14-10 lead before Turner drilled a three-pointer to cut the lead to 14-13 with 3:02 left in the half. Reserve C. Burns played a big role for the Soaring Eagles in the quarter, knocking down a three-pointer as they took a 22-16 lead into the half.
The Soaring Eagles’ increased defensive pressure and board play really started taking it’s toll on Woodland in the third quarter limiting them to just 4 points. Drewberry and Hollaway would both score a pair of hoops as Eagles Landing increased their lead to fourteen points, 34-20.

Tookes, who was held scoreless in the third quarter, scored a couple of baskets for Woodland in the forth quarter but it wasn’t enough to close the gap. Another Eagles Landing reserve N. Cruz, would add a pair of baskets as they finished off the Wolfpack to take home the 3rd place trophy.

Eagles Landing 43 – Woodland 27

Woodland MS: Jamal Tookes and Frank Turner each added 8 and Thetis Jones chipped in with 6.
