Lilburn, GA - Last year the Berkmar “Patriots” only won 2 region games. Will head coach Justin Bishop get off to a better start in 2009 season opener against the Duluth “Wildcats”? We pick the game up in the bottom of the second with the Wildcats up 1-0 until EJ Cheatham drives in super sophomore Xaviir Briggs on a base hit into right field to tie things up at ones. The Patriots would increase the lead on a bomb by third basemen Jarrett Rivera off of John Clark down the left field line to move the score to 2-1 in the bottom of the third. After the home run by Rivera, Wildcats head coach Bobby Link would then bring in the “Silencer” Chris Rich to quite the Patriots bats. Rich would finish the game on the mound not allowing another run by the Patriots.
The Wildcats on the other hand, had a game to come back to win. The Wildcats would explode in the top of the sixth and seventh innings, as the Patriots would bring in their relievers. Briggs and Shayne Schilling would load the bases, as the Wildcats scratch 3 runs in the sixth inning on a huge at bat by Stephen Robinson 4-2. The Wildcats would add on the insurance as Jacob Mauldin would clear the bases on a triple to seal the victory for the Wildcats.
Final Score: Duluth 10 Berkmar 2
The Wildcats look to go 2-0 as they travel to Paulding County to face the “Patriots” on Friday in their season opener. The Patriots will have to rebound Thursday against the Monroe Area “Hurricanes”.
Marist “War Eagles” vs. Heritage “Patriots”
Marist flies in the season opener.

Atlanta, GA - We pick up the season opener between the Marist “War Eagles” versus the Heritage “Patriots” of Conyers in the bottom of the third inning with the score tied at 1. Coming into the game the War Eagles look to have the heads up on the pitching side of the match up but the Patriots had a ace of a reliever in Chase Ware. With the bases loaded Brady Herman would come up to bat to drive in two runs on a hit into right field and the crowd would stand to their feet. Patriots head coach Casey Teal would then summon reliever Chase Ware to stop the potential bleeding as the score move to 3-1. With super sophomore Mitchell Anderson up to face Ware with the bases loaded, the results would be a hit to the second baseman who gets the runner on second but the short stop miscues the first baseman and the error would bring in two runners to move the score to 5-1. The defense would settle down behind Ware but not before Andy Perez would single in Anderson to move the score to 6-1. With three batters left in the game Marist head coach Mike Strickland would bring in the secret weapon in Kyle Farmer to close the victory. Farmer would strike out the first two batters, while getting the third to ground out for the win.
Final Score: Marist 6 Heritage 1 / The War Eagles start their season off at 1-0 and will play the Lassiter “Trojans” Friday in their season opener. The Patriots will have to rebound Saturday at 2:00 pm as they travel to Collins Hills to take on the “Eagles”.
Message of the Week!
Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.
Situation: Justin parents taught him at an early age not to steal. At age 16 Justin started to steal the baseball equipment from his team. Once remembering his early childhood he returned all of the equipment.
