Street Talk “Un-KUT” with Tori Waldner
If you don’t already know you’d better ask somebody because the word on “Street Talk” is that this is no ordinary baller; at 6-4 and just a sophomore Tori Waldner from Milton High School can play. Waldner has a soft shooting touch that extends out past the three-point line. But the most important thing to me is that she can move her feet, which is very critical for someone with Waldner’s height.
This summer on the AAU curcuit Tori's stock unlike the current stock market is going soar; so collage recruiters you had better get your stock now. Recently Walder and I had a chance to sit down for a little Street Talk.
L.A.: Tell the “Other” players your full name, that way when they get schooled they will remember who schooled them?
Tori: My full name is Victoria Rose Waldner- Little Girly, I know.
L.A.: Just in case they can’t remember you full name, do you have a nickname we can throw at them?
Tori: Tori (Jolly Green)
L.A.: What school do you attend and what is your school classification (freshman, sophomore etc.)?
Tori: I attend Milton High School and I am a sophomore.
L.A.: Which AAU program do you play for in the summer?
Tori: I am playing with the Peach State Elite.
L.A.: Are you originally from Atlanta, GA, if not where are you from?
Tori: I was born in Atlanta Georgia.
L.A.: Who have been some of the most influential people in your life?
Tori: My mother, coaches and teammates.
L.A.: What has been one of the most memorable moments in your athletic career so far? Tori: Well, last year I went to states and even though we lost in the first round, it was exciting and I would love to go again and go much farther. (Championship)
L.A.: What moment(s) would you most like to forget?
Tori: I think I have air thrown up an air ball (hahaha)... not a good memory.
L.A.: Who has been one of the toughest players you ever had to play against and who is the best high school player you personally have ever seen?
Tori: Elem Ibian, she is a strong player and my height, which is something I don’t often see, and she is very tough. The best high school player that I have personally watched was Maya Moore. Before I played high school basketball my sister played and I came to every single game. They had to play Collins Hill and my sister had to guard her. I remember watching her and she was amazing. My sister played really well against her on defense but with all the skills Maya has it was just inevitable that she would do well no matter what.
L.A.: Tell me something about yourself that people wouldn’t know by just looking at you?
Tori: Um, I like to do a lot of community service work, like helping with Miracle League and a mission trip for Hurricane Katrina. And supposedly I am smart, I don’t know about that but that’s what my friends say. I think they are saying I don’t look smart, I might need to talk about that a little more with them. :)

| Tori is following in the footsteps of her sister Ann who was a 4SHOT Hoops All-Star performer at Milton. |
Un-KUT: Not everybody can handle it when you come at them “Un-KUT” but on Street Talk everything is “Un-KUT”, no bias, no allegiances except to GOD and no make believe. Nobody can do you like you, so give it to them “Un-KUT”
L.A.: As an athlete is it easier to get a date or harder?
Tori: I think it’s harder because I’m strong and tall and I am not that girly, I don’t wear cute clothes I just dress like an athlete and not many boys are used to that. However, I am getting a little girlier, my teammates are happy. (Hahaha)
L.A.: You are a basketball recruiter or analyst and you are scouting you, briefly what would your take be on your game:
Tori: Strong Defense, reads the court well, needs a little bit of work on offense and get more aggressive but overall good game, she has a lot of potential and heart.
L.A.: Do you get special treatment at home because you play sports?
Tori: No, not at all, my sister played multiple sports when she was younger and stuck with basketball and my mom played basketball. I have played softball, soccer and stuck with basketball. There’s no special treatment, it’s just normal in our family.
L.A.: Who is your favorite teacher in school?
Tori: I don’t know, I like a couple of my teachers, I get along with most of them and all of my teachers are nice.
L.A.: Which subject do you like most and which subject do you like least?
Tori: I like Spanish the most, because it is never a boring class and I like learning Spanish. The subject I like least... math but that’s only because it is one of my harder classes.
L.A.: What do you think you need to work on to take your game to the next level?
Tori: I need to work on my offense and being a little bit more aggressive, I have been improving but if I master those I will be closer to getting to the next level.
L.A.: If you could change anything in the world today what would it be?
Tori: The end of all the terrorism. I know a couple of families that have seen their sons and daughters off and it puts a lot of stress on them because they worry and it is always scary not knowing if they are ok and safe.
L.A.: How does summer ball (AAU) differ from the regular season and do you like playing AAU ball better?
Tori: AAU is different because the level of competition raises a whole lot, in high school you play people in the same area and those who have played since middle school. In AAU I play against girls all over the country who are extremely good ball players. I can’t say I like any one more because AAU is a blast traveling and playing against higher competition and comparing my skills to others and getting better but in high school, our team is so close and the rivalry is just as exciting and hard working, I love both.
L.A.: What do you want to do after your basketball career is over?
Tori: I want to receive my masters and travel and do something with medicine, my mom has always pictured me as a lawyer with a medical degree.... but I may lean towards orthopedics because I love sports and always want them in my life.
