Peachtree Ridge “Lions” vs. Redan “Raiders”

Lions roar pass the Raiders.

I can’t call it but the umpire can.

Peachtree Ridge High SchoolSuwanee, GA

Suwanee, GA After beating the East Paulding “Raiders” the day before 3-1, it was interesting to see if the Peachtree Ridge “Lions” could take down another Raider in Redan. The Raiders head coach Marvin Pruitt is known for having excellent baseball teams that put kids in position to become successful. After losing to the Kell “Longhorns” 4-5, the Raiders looked to capture their first win against the Lions.

Hat's off to Brandon Hardwood & Chris Brunatti.

It wouldn’t take long to figure out that it was going to be a long day for the Raiders as the Lions put up 5 runs in the bottom of the first inning, Redan starting pitcher Deion Williams would have a hard time placing his fastball, as the Lions Chris Brunatti hit a two run blast over the center field wall to put the Lions up 2-0. The Lions would bat around as the Raiders would make the pitching change to junior Clifford Peterson in the bottom of the second inning. Peterson would walk his first batter to load the bases and that would bring up junior Brandon Hardwood who would clear the bases with a 385 ft bomb over the center field wall for the grand slam to move the score to 9-1.

At the end of the day, the Lions had the pitching advantage to win this one in 5 innings.

Final Score:  Peachtree Ridge 11  Redan 1

The Lions improve to go 3-1 as they travel to Kell on Saturday to take on the “Longhorns”. The Redan “Raiders” look to get their first win of the season on the road as they travel to face the Pope “Greyhounds”, who have been killing teams.

Peachtree Ridge “Lions” vs. East Paulding “Raiders”

Lions bite the Raiders in the end.

Zack Wheeler put the hitting on display.

Peachtree Ridge High School – Suwanee, GA

Aidan McLaughlin 6'4 Senior only allowed 1 run in 4 innings.
Suwanee
, GAAfter putting on a hitting display of 15 runs against East Hall, the “Lions” of Peachtree Ridge look to bounce back after losing to Pope 3-5. Today’s opponent, the East Paulding “Raiders” featured future MLB’er Zack Wheeler and head coach Tony Boyd who look to get their first win after also losing to the “Greyhounds” 5-9.

Pardon the Kut Interruption:  What’s going on at Pope High School? The Greyhounds killing teams. I got to put them on my schedule. Let’s see when I can make it. At Centennial March 20th 5:55 PM, I am there. Now back to our schedule program.

The game would be knotted at zeros as the Lions senior pitcher Aidan McLaughlin was lining them up and sitting them down. McLaughlin finished with 9 strike outs before coming out in the fifth inning. The Raiders would strike the scoreboard first on a blast into right field by Steven Nix with only one out with runners on the corners. Aidan would then regain his focus and strike out the next two batters to get out of the inning.

In the bottom of the sixth Jared Walsh would start the inning off with a double and All State player Nate Chong would drive him in with a double of his own to tie the game (1-1) with no outs. The Lions would take the lead as Chris Brunatti would drive Nate in from second 2-1. Mitch Williford would make it to third base after a hit and a wild throw to first base to keep the inning alive with one out. The Raiders would then call to the bull pen and Corey Sussman would come in for relief to try to quite the Lions roar. The first batter for Sussman would be Brandon Harwood, who would convert the sacrifice fly to move the score to 3-1. Tyler Techo would come on to seal the victory for the Lions on the mound.

Final Score:  Peachtree Ridge 3  East Paulding 1

The Lions look to go 3-1 as they invite the Redan “Raiders” to Suwanee. The East Paulding “Raiders” look to get their first win of the season against Columbus in the LaGrange tournament.

Message of the Week!

Psalm 30:5
For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

Situation: Greg’s baseball team the Clark High “Gators” lost to cross town rivals the Eastwood High “Seminoles”. Greg took it real hard and cried all night. The next morning the school and students greeted the baseball team with cheers. Greg finally smiled, knowing that it wasn’t the last game of the season and they get to play them again.
