Macon, GA – The Rebels from Turner County are on a mission to complete some unfinished business from last year when they lost in the state finals to Hancock Central; well now they will get their chance. Turner County exploded in the forth quarter to beat Athens Christian in their semifinals match-up so now Head Coach Eric Holland and his Rebels head back to the Class 1A State Championship Game on Saturday.
It was evident from the start that Turner County wanted to race up and down the court, using their decided advantage in speed, quickness and athleticism. Athens Christian would have had to play very discipline game and pick their spots to run if they stood any real chance but unfortunately they got caught up and played right into Coach Holland’s hands.
Raymond Higgs, a 6-3 senior provided the bulk the first half scoring for the Eagles with seven points; meanwhile his 6-5 teammate Zach Little, who is just a freshman was battling inside on the boards snatching 8 boards.

Turner County’s starting five really looked impressive, starting with high flying 6-2 senior Terrell Davis, 6-5 senior Trey Pearce another high flyer was filling the wing and the two big’s 6-8 junior Chris Spears and 6-7 sophomore Breon Dixon were manning the paint. Leading the Rebels charge was their floor general 5-5 senior Aadrain Jackson.
Pearce would finish the half with 10 points while Davis and reserve Javon Caswell, a 5-10 senior both added eight to give the Rebels a 38-28 lead at the half.

Behind the play of Higgs, Athens Academy made a strong second half push and would pull to with in two but the Rebels would go on a 12-0 run midway through the forth quarter. Davis would scored back-to-back baskets and Dixon would throw down a big dunk to push the lead up to twelve.
The scoring explosion would ground the Eagles and propelled the Rebels into Saturday’s Class 1A Championship game where they will look to take care of some unfinished business.
