Towers High School, Decatur GA
Last season Head Coach Johnny Toombs had a group of talented but young players on the Towers Girls Basketball Team. In each game you got see the talent base but you also saw the youth and inexperience. In that group of players Coach Toombs had his own version of the “Fab 5” in five outstanding sophomores.

Well those young sophomores are juniors and according to Coach Toombs are

Towers High School - "Fab 5" (L-R: Shannon Royes, Kourtney Singleton, Crystal Williams, Jameka Promise and Nicole Owens)
ready to cause some real damage this season. A “New Towers” has been built and if your team has a reservation the price may be an “L” in the loss column.

The “Lady Titans” will be led by their high scoring all-star guard junior Shannon Royes. The 5-7 Royes led the team in scoring last season averaging 12.0 points per game, which ranked her 10th among all of the scorers in Dekalb County. Royes is a “Baller”, she has a sweet handle and can score. She has a real feel for the game.

Joining Royes is junior Kourtney Singleton, a 5-9 swing player who was second on the team in scoring knocking down 10.0 points per game, which ranked her in the top twenty scorers in Dekalb County. Singleton is an all around good player. She can score and defend. You may see her playing the wing, point or either of the forward positions at any given time.

Another of the talented junior class players is 6-1center Nicole Owens. Owens has come along quite nicely and should be ready to take control of the middle this season. She moves well around the basket and has a nice soft touch. If she develops a “This is my lane” attitude watch out.

Jameka Promise is an ultra quick 5-5 junior point guard who likes to get up and down the floor. Her development at the point will allow Royes and Singleton to get out on the wings and run. Promise is also a ball hawk on the defensive end of the floor.

Rounding out the “FAB 5” is Crystal Williams, a quite 5-6 junior who can play the wing or the point. Last season Williams came off the bench to give the “Lady Titans” a spark. A solid player with good fundamental skills.

The “Lady Titans” also had two promising freshmen on the team in Melini McFarland a 5-7 forward and Monique Eason 5-5 guard. This year’s lone senior is Sametha Glenn 5-6 guard who was the stabling force on the team last season.
