Westlake vs. Dunwoody (3A Finals)
The Dunwoody Wildcats have faced the Westlake Lions before, twice in fact. Even more disturbing for the Wildcats, both times the Lions were victorious. This time, Dunwoody had all the more reason for revenge. This time, a title was at stake.

It was the game of the year for girls’ high school basketball when the Avondale Lady Blue Devils stepped on the court to face the state champion Hephzibah Lady Rebels in the Georgia High School Association’s AAA championship game at the Macon Coliseum on Saturday evening.

Carolyn and Elise Whitney hit the Wesleyan campus as freshman and quickly became integrated into the “Lady Wolves” championship tradition. Le’ Le’ LeSure followed suit after her freshman season at Redan High School and now the trio will leave the Norcross Campus with 3 state Class A Championship rings.

For the first time in the schools short history the Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy “Lady Warriors” have won the GHSA Class A Girls State Championship; and they did it with tenacity, hard work and the grace becoming a champion knocking off favorite Atkinson County 53-45.

Dublin vs. Thomasville (2-A Finals)
If a shootout is what you want, then the state class 2-A championship game between the Dublin Fighting Irish versus the Thomasville Bulldogs is a sure thing. The Irish would enter the finals off a win over Buford and the Bulldogs off a victory over defending champs East Hall.

SACA vs. Whitefield (1-A Finals)
The Southwest Atlanta Christian Warriors versus the Whitefield Academy Wolfpack in the state class 1-A championship, would feature two teams with something in common. Both teams would enter already having state rings, Whitefield in 2003 and SACA in 2004.

With the Wheeler Wildcats out of the picture, the Norcross Blue Devils figures to be sitting pretty going into the Class 5-A championship game. Their opponent, however, is the same opponent that sent Wheeler packing. Now the questions are: Will the Beach Bulldogs pull off another major upset to take home a title or will the Blue Devils do as most suspect and walk away with a championship of their own. Let’s see….

The class 4-A state finals between the Columbia Eagles versus the Douglas County Tigers would feature height and talent. The number one ranked Eagles would have a solid starting five, while Tigers looked to match up at positions.

When it comes to rivals, there is non more exciting than the class 4-A programs of St. Pius X Golden Lions versus the Marist War Eagles. Whether it’s football, baseball or golf, these two schools gets it on. St. Pius enters the game winning the 2004 class 4-A state championship and Marist enter looking to win their first in school history.

Redan Raiders versus the Norcross Blue Devils in the boys 5-A final four would be fast pace. Norcross would come out running and strike first with a dunk from Tony Neysmith.

In last years Class 5A State Championship Game the “Lady Eagles” from Collins Hill dominated Redan and a year later in the Class 5A Semi-Finals nothing changed as once again Collins Hill controlled the game from start to finish as they move on to the Finals and a chance to defend their championship.

The “Lady Comets” from South Gwinnett won the 1995 Class 4A State Championship and the 2006 teams wants to add another trophy to their showcase and now they have put themselves in position to do so advancing to the Class 5A Championship with an impressive win Stephenson.

The Meadowcreek Mustangs quest for the state final four would have to go cross town Norcross High Blue Devils. The two schools would meet up for the first time of the season and neither school would be consider a underdog in the game. Both schools would feature outstanding players, non other than the headliners “Up Late Night” Chris Allen (Michigan State signee) for Meadowcreek and “That Boy” Jodie Meeks (Kentucky signee) for Norcross.
