4SHOT Sports Street Talk - "Live in L.A." L.A. “Keeping it Real” with Megan Elliott Street Talk caught up with Megan Elliott a 6-0 junior from Pace Academy as she strolled into a hot Avondale H.S. gymnasium just before a Sunday practice with her summer AAU team the Georgia Hoop-Stars coached by J.D. Davis. L.A.: “Who have been some of the most influential people in your life”? Megan: “Definitely my parents, because they have been pushing me to do well my whole life, my Pace Academy coach, Coach Vidal and Coach Davis (AAU Coach). L.A.: “What has been one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Megan: (without hesitation) “Beating Paideia this year because last year they slaughtered us, so coming back this year with basically the same team the win was big for us. Megan: (a little laugh) “Losing to Holy Innocents’ onetime by about 30 points, which was a little embarrassing, but we improved loosing by only 10 the next time, so I kind of pretend that game (the 30 point game) never happened. L.A.: “What do you think you need to work on this summer and next season to take your game to the next level?” L.A.: “I have seen you play a few times and because you are one of the tallest girls on your high school team you have to play in the paint a lot, but I think at the next level with your height (6-0”) you are going to have to play outside; do you get to play there much during the high school season or more so during the AAU season ? Megan: “I do, more during the AAU season because the other girls who actually are post-players play there so I get to work on other parts of my game that I don’t get to work on during the high school season.” L.A.: (laughing) “Do you like playing the post or would you rather be out on the wing?” Megan: (laugh) “I’d rather be outside, the girls in the post are a lot bigger than me” L.A.: “What do you find is the difference between playing AAU ball and high school ball?” Megan: “The pace of the game and the skills of the other girls. During school each team may have 1 or 2 pretty good players but in AAU everyone is incredible and is at your level so you have to work a lot harder”. L.A.: “Who has been one of the toughest players you have had to guard?” Megan: (no hesitation) “Christy Brown from Holy Innocents, she is just so fast, she can be just standing there and then all of a sudden she’s gone.” L.A.: “Without tipping your hand, give me the names of some college programs that you just like or would not mind playing for?” Megan: “I like UVA and Wake, UCLA ..I love California, Florida, Florida State” L.A.: “I see you like the warm weather schools” Megan: “Definitely, I like the warm weather, I love the west coast. I’m not a cold weather person.” L.A.: “What was the last CD you brought and why?” Megan: (shy grin, laughing) “ I think it was 50 Cent - The Massacre, I just really like him” L.A.: “If you could meet anyone in the world who would it be and why? Megan: “You are probably going to make fun of me for this one but, Jessica Simpson. I think she is so cute and I love her cloths. I think she’s who she is and doesn’t care what people think about her and is comfortable with who she is, and I think everyone should be like that.” L.A.: “I’m going to throw out some word comparisons and I want you to choose one” L.A.: “Nike, Reebok or Adidas?” L.A.: “Sean John or Roca-Wear?” L.A: “What’s your favorite food?” L.A.: “Who’s your favorite player?” Megan: “LaBron James, he’s young and I just love that.” Megan: “The Hawks”, even though their terrible” L.A.: “The Hawks”, come on “Keep it Real” Megan: “Ok, I really like the Lakers” L.A.: “Megan, thanks for your time and good luck!” Megan: “Thank you” If you want to “Keep it Real" on Street Talk …holla at me This is Larry “L.A.” Williams …PEACE! © Copyright 2006 by 4SHOT Sports |
