4SHOT Sports Boys Hoops - 2006 Last Home Performance for the Seniors Lawal verbal to Georgia Tech; Meeks drops 24 Peachtree Ridge Gymnasium – Suwannee, GA This game gives both teams an early warm up before heading into regional play next week. The Blue Devils will be flying out to California on Thursday to play a national game against Fairfax, for another tune up before regional and state tournament play. The last meeting between the schools ended in victory for Norcross by 23 points (70-47). Will this time make a difference? The Lions would have a different focus this time around, for it was senior night. Congratulation to the Lawal Family as Gani Lawal has made a verbal commitment to play for Paul Hewitt at Georgia Tech! Quick Plug: Gani Lawal a.k.a “The Walking Man Child” coming soon to Street Talk with L.A. The scene would be set and Jodie Meeks would not be joking. If you were in the mood for comedy, then you pick the wrong night. The game would get started right out the box, when Meeks would drive baseline and slap the rim with a monster dunk to send the senior night faithful a message (Wrong team-wrong night). Just when you thought that it was only the first 2 points, no sir! Gani would abuse the rim with to back to back dunks causing Peachtree Ridge head coach Gerald Arnold to use a early timeout. Even though the game was exciting out the box. The Lions would settle down and get on a roll. 5’11 point guard Bryan Pyles would not back down. Pyle would drive the lane for 2 points and drain a three pointer to help give the Lions the lead in the first period. Meeks would get in early foul trouble with 2 fouls, but would come off the bench with 30 seconds left to hit a big three-pointer, closing out the first period with the Lions on top 17-15. The second period would start with a long three-pointer from half court by Pyles 20-15 (Not actually from half court, I was just say a long way). Tony Neysmith would scratch the scorebook for the Blue Devils with a reverse scoop to get the Devils going in the right direction on a 6-0 run. Sydney Haynes would play a complete game off the bench for the Lions on defense and offense. Haynes would continue to score in the paint and hit free throws to keep the Lions close down by 6 points going into the half 33-27. Cameron Heyward would go to work with Gani on the bench to try to give the Lions a spark, leading to a coach Eddie Martin timeout. After the timeout Meeks would go bombing from down town with a three to push the lead to 10 points with 4:57 in the third period 42-32. In fourth period Brenton Butler would convert clutch free throws from the line to seal the victory. Peachtree Ridge girls defeated Norcross 76-56. Final Score: Norcross 65 Peachtree Ridge 51 Scoring Recap Norcross Jodie Meeks 24 points, Gani Lawal 18 points 3 Blocks, Brenton Butler 12 and Tony Neysmith 6 points Peachtree Ridge Bryan Pyles 20 points, Cameron Heyward 13 points and Sydney Haynes 11 points
Heisman or Neysmith Kut Gets Personal: Tony Neysmith
"I like what I see in your game on the floor. It takes a lot of character to do what you do. You are going to be a coaches dream to coach. You seem to want to learn the game and get better. Just remember to display the same Character off the floor and in the classroom. Keep doing your thing, the sky is the limit."
