L.A. “Keeping it Real” with Robin Murphy
On a Stephenson H.S. team that had such a rollercoaster season there was one player who’s play was consistent throughout,  former Rockdale H.S. and Oak Hill star Robin Murphy, who by the way will be doing her thing in D.C. next season for Georgia Washington University. I caught up with the talented senior for a little one-on-one of “Keeping It Real”.

L.A.:  “Who have been some of the most influential people in your life”?

Robin: “The most influential people in my life are my mom dad and brothers, two good friends of mine and my cousin, a former WNBA star.”

L.A.:  “What has been one of the most memorable moments of your career so far?
Robin: “Hitting a half-court shot when I was 12 years old!!!”

L.A.:  “What moment(s) would you most like to forget so far in your career?
Robin: “All of my injuries”

L.A.: “What’s the strongest part of your game?
Robin: “Most definitely rebounding, scoring, ball handling and my court vision”

L.A.:   “What part of your game do you think you need to work on to be ready at the next level ?”

Robin: “Everything and every part of my game has to be so much better mentally and physically.”

L.A.:  “Who has been one of the toughest players you have had to guard?”
Robin: “One of my friends from Oak Hill”

L.A.:  “Without tipping your hand, give me the names of some colleges that you wouldn’t mind playing for next season?”

Robin: “I have signed to George Washington University in D.C. “G-Dubb”

Murphy had a solid performance in the recently played Atlanta All-Star Classic.
L.A.: “If you were not playing basketball what would you be doing now?”
Robin: ”Pursuing a career in soccer.”

L.A.: “Tell me something about yourself that people wouldn’t know by just looking at you?

Robin: “That I am freaked out by spiders”

L.A.: “How does summer ball (AAU) differ from the regular season and which do you prefer (AAU or Regular Season)?”
Robin: “AAU is more competitive and there is more exposure.”

L.A.: “Most AAU Teams have players that play in their natural position unlike in high school where most players are out of position. In high school you pretty much play in the paint, but during AAU season I notice that you do get a chance to play on the wing some, where would you prefer to play at the next level?”

Robin: “The Wing, I am more comfortable there and I also makes me more of a threat, But I like to do both and keep my versatility.”

L.A.:  “What do you want to be when you grow up?”

Robin: “A WNBA superstar and an orthopedic surgeon”

L.A.:  “If you could meet anyone in the world (past or present) who would it be and why?

Robin: “Jesus, Because He is the captain of my ship”

L.A:  “What’s your favorite food?”
Robin: “Pizza, oxtails and cheesecake…….. But not all at the same time!”

L.A.:  “Who’s your favorite player (man or woman)?”
Robin: Jason Kidd and Lady Grooms

L.A.:  “Who’s your favorite team?”

Robin: “Dallas Mavericks”

L.A.: “What is your favorite TV Show and Movie?”
Robin: “Scooby-Doo is my favorite show and my favorite movie is Girl Fight.”

L.A.: “What type of music do you like and do you have a favorite artist or group?”

Robin: ” I like all music! Rap, R&B, Pop, Country, Old school”

L.A.: “Ms. Murphy, thank you for you time, it has been my pleasure to be able to “Keep It Real” with you.”
Robin: “No problem, and thank YOU so much!”
