Michigan “Crossover” vs. Essence “Black”
Reported by Rod Freeman - 4SHOT Hoops

What got on the way as a close game would continue to be that way to the finish. The Essence “Black” guard J.T. Bonds would nail a three point from the under ground to bring her time as close as four points in the deficits. The
Michigan “Crossover” would double the attack on the Black team with 3 three-pointers from Patricia Jones to seal the victory with the score 67-64. D Dixon would lead all scorers with a game high 17 points for the “Crossover”, while Jones would finish second with 15 points. Teammates S Harper would cash in with 10 points, C Townsend and B Jones would both contribute 9 points from in the paint. Even though the first half seemed to be close, the second half was lead by the defense of the “Crossover”. Harper would get a steal and Jones would hit the boards for rebounds.

Dixon and Jones would handle the scoring for the “Crossover” and Abria Peoples would carry the torch for the Essence “Black” team. Peoples finished with a team high 14 points, followed by 10 points from teammate Biance Lutey. Jayme Warner and Markeshie Grant were both able to contribute with 9 points. J.T. Bonds would come off the bench and score some easy baskets in the paint. Both teams fought hard but at the end of the day the spoils went to the Michigan “Crossover” to get things started.

All-Ohio Red vs. GA Deam Team 16U

Reported by Rod “Kut” Freeman - 4SHOT Hoops

I could tell right away that the girls from All-Ohio were well sound and ready to play. Amber Stokes would get the scoring started for the All-Ohio “Red” team with a three-pointer from Centennial Park to catapult a 10-2 run.

Even though the “Red” team seems to be too much to handle right away, the Dream Team would answer back with Westover shooting guard K Berry who lead the team with a high of 12 points. Berry would show range scoring from outside and inside on hard drives to the basket. The “Red” teams had the height advantage on the inside with M Ohakim who would score all 8 of her points in the paint. K Hackney would nail a three for the “Red” team with 3:15 to go in the second half to put her team up ten points and that prove to be crucial as the victory would come by ten points.

Final Score: All-Ohio Red: 59 - GA Deam Team 16U: 49

Scoring Recap
All-Ohio Red:
Angela Groves 15 points (Game High), M Ohakim 8 points, K Hackney and Amber Stokes both scored 7 points.

Lady Express vs. GA Metros 15u
Reported by Rod “Kut” Freeman - 4SHOT Hoops

It’s hard to say but this game never really got off the ground. From the tip to the ending buzzer it would be all GA Metro. The “Metros” Tessah Holt took the Lady Express on her on ride with three straight jumpers and a lay up. Teammate Kajuanna Rivers tried to out do her counter part by hitting a turn around jumper and collecting points on several put backs. I must give credit to the Lady Express, even though they were over powered they never gave up.

The GA Metros MARTA their way to victory by 45 points.

Final Score: GA Metros 15u 66 - Lady Express 21

N.C. 76ers vs. Tennessee Flight

Reported by Larry Williams - 4SHOT Hoops

Abby Andrews (l) and Brenice Shephard (r)
The Tennessee Flight really took off against the undermanned N.C. 76ers dropping bombs from all over the place. In all the “Flight” drilled 10 three-pointers and didn’t really need the services of their outstanding guard 5-10 So.-Abby Andrews as they bombed the frustrated 76ers. Tennessee’s 6-2 Jr.-Savannah Hill did a nice job and showed a nice inside, outside game and 5-5 Jr.-Kayla Hudson also was solid at the point. The 76ers 5-8 Jr.-Brenice Shephard did her best to try and keep her team in contention but the “Flight” just had too much to deal with.
Final Score: Tennessee Flight  - N.C. 76ers

Scoring Recap

Tennessee Flight: Savannah Hill scored a game high 14 points to lead four Tennessee players in double figures. Carolyn Mills added 12 points, Kayla Bryant 11 points and Anisha Buchanan finished with 10 points.

Georgia Nike Elite vs. Texas Express

Reported by Larry Williams - 4SHOT Hoops

Micah Garoutte (l) and Alex Winchell (r)
In what looked like a blowout early on turned out to be the best game of the night when the Georgia “Nike Elite” squared off against the Texas “Express”. On Sunday the first person we bumped into when we entered the Georgia State Arena was Dianna Sager the Head Coach of the Texas “Express” and the first thing she wanted to know was were there was an empty gym where her girls could practice, now what does that tell you, she want her girls to be ready to roll and roll they did.

With 5-8 Jr.-Ebony Alexander running the point and 6-0 So.-Whitney Hand, 6-0 Jr.-Jordon Ford, 6-1 Jr.-Jenna Simmel and 6-0 So.-Layne Reeves filling the lanes the “Express” jumped out to a quick lead. Then there was 6-2 Jr. Micah Garoutte who was just beasting everybody in the paint with her patented drop-step and baby hook that helped the “Express” open up a 20-8 lead.

Now Nike Elite Head Coach Bosco McAbee has some of the top players in Georgia on his squad and in the 2nd half they stepped up and showed why battling back from a double digit deficit. The comeback was led by 5-10 Jr.-D’Nay Daniels, 5-8 Jr.-Crystal Davis and 5-6 Jr.-Alex Winchell who by the way drilled 6 three-pointers in the game.

With :07 seconds on the clock Nike Elite got the ball under their basket after a Texas turnover and called a timeout trailing 67-66. After the timeout a play designed to go inside to 6-0 Jr.-Brittney Carter was bottled up by the “Express” defense and Carter was unable to get the shot off giving the Texas “Express” an exciting win to end the first day of competition.

Final Score: Texas Express 67 - Georgia Nike Elite 66

Scoring Recap

Texas Express: Whitney Hand and Jenna Simmel each scored 14 points to pace the “Express”. Micah Garoutte and Jordon Ford finished with 12 and 10 points respectively.

Georgia Nike Elite: Alex Winchell knocked down 6 three-pointers on her way to a game high 18 points. D’Nay Daniels added 11 points, Chioma Okoli and Crystal Davis each finished with 8 points.

Alabama “Roadrunner” vs. K.C. Select
Reported by Larry Williams - 4SHOT Hoops

Tyra White (l) and Courtney Ward (r)
What started out as a real competitive game turned into a bit of a one sided affair as the Alabama “Roadrunners” used a balanced attacked led by 5-6 Jr.-Courtney Ward and drubbed the K.C. “Select” by a score of 59-38. The “Select” behind the play of 5-8 Jr.-Alysha Bell and 6-1 Jr.-Tyra White, who dropped a game high 23 points kept it close in the 1st half but the 2nd half was a whole different ball game as the “Roadrunners” used the inside presence of 6-0 So.-Courtney Jones and 6-1 Jr.-Jasmine Tate to seized control of the boards and the game.

With Jones and Tate getting the ball off the glass Ward and 5-6 Jr.-Kayla Melson were able to push the ball up the court for some easy baskets. 5-6 So.-Yvonne Anderson did a nice job down the stretch of taking the ball to the hole and 5-7, Ruth Ketcham came in to do a nice job in a reserve roll as the “Roadrunners” came away with the win.

Final Score: Alabama “Roadrunner” 59  - K.C. Select 38

Scoring Recap

Alabama Roadrunners: Courtney Jones and Yvonne Anderson each scored 10 points to pace the “Roadrunners”. Kayla Melson added 9 points and three other players chipped in with 6 points.

K.C. Select: Tyra White from the “Select” led all scorers with a game high 23 points, teammate Jackie Griggs chipped in the 7 points.

Georgia Blazers vs. West Coast Elite

Reported by Larry Williams/4SHOT Hoops

Stefanie Gilbreath (l) and Danielle Anderson (r)
You could see early on that the undersized “Blazers were going to have their hands full with WCE and the likes of 6-4 Fr.-Kelsey Bone, 6-4 So.-Ashley Gayle and the Gilbreath sisters: 6-2 So.-Briana and 6-1 Jr. Stefanie and in the end they were just too much to deal with inside. While Galye was swatting away shots like flies teammates 5-7 Jr.-Italee Lucas and 5-6 Jr.-Erica Helms were taking turns directing their balanced attack. Oh and Bone was “Bad to the Bone”, she is going to be a monster before she leaves high school…write it done, you already know!.

I have to give credit to the “Blazers” players in particular 5-11 Jr.-Danielle Anderson who did a great job battling WCE’s powerful frontline. 5-8 Jr.-Seqcoah Griffin and 5-7 Jr.-Patience Figgins also stepped up their games for the “Blazers” in the loss. In the end it was just too much West Coast for the “Blazers” to handle and they won’t be the only team that will have a problem dealing with WCF before the tournament ends.

Final Score: West Coast Elite 87 - Georgia Blazers 50

Scoring Recap

West Coast Elite: Stefanie Gilbreath scored a game high 20 points to lead five WCE players who scored in double figures. Kelsey Bone had 16 points, Erica Helms 13 points, Ashley Gayle 12 points and Monique Oliver added 10 points.

Georgia Blazers: Seqcoah Griffin and Danielle Anderson who scored 15 and 10 points respectively led the “Blazers”.
