Better than 14 Karat! Grayson Garvin.

The Wolves of Wesleyan are super vicious and didn’t spare any mercy on the Pierce County “Bears”. Grayson Garvin took the mound and the opponent batters didn’t stand a chance. The two straight victories over Pierce County 10-2 and 10-1 moved the Wolves in to their third state Class 2-A final 4 appearance in four years.

Grayson Garvin (The Run Down): Garvin struck out 16 batters just one short of his career best 17 last season against Lumpkin County. Grayson scoreless ending streak was broken but states he was upset about the streak. Grayson haven’t given up a run since the Wolves loss to the Buford “Wolves” in March this year.

The bats of the Wolves were active with 20 runs. The heavy hitter awards would go to Kevin Ruiz with a home run (3 RBI’s) and Connor Winn with 2 home runs (4 RBI’s). With 7 runs in the second inning and 5 errors by the Bears defense, the Wolves cruised in game 2 (10-2) Next for the Wolves a trip to face Calhoun in the state final 4.

Situation: Senior Will Lewis was the star of his baseball team and was given a scholarship to Portland University. In the state finals college scouts from all the major colleges were at the game to see if his teammate Lance Phillips could hit. If Lance could have a good game he had a chance at a scholarship. With bases loaded in the 9^th inning Will faked a cramp so Lance could pinch hit for him. Phillips drove in the game winning run and received a scholarship.
