Raiders upset Mustangs for State Title

Burns was on fire.

Walton High SchoolMarietta, GA

After losing the first game 6-5 to the Mustangs of Kennesaw Mountain High School, the Raiders never lost hope. The Walton Raider would win game two of the 3 game series 4-1 to force a game three winners takes the state title match up.

The Mustangs ranked number one in the state of Georgia would have to meet the pitching of Junior T.J. Kerins who went the distance and the bat of Billy Burns would gave the Raiders a 7-0 lead in the bottom of the third.

There were a couple disputable calls made by the ref’s in favor of the Raiders and the defense of the Mustangs didn’t hold up to play a factor. At the end of the day the score was 9-2 and the Raiders walked away with the state Class 5-A Trophy.

Congratulations to both teams. You all are winners!

Wolfpack Claims 4-A Title!

Back to Back for the Wolfpack.

Greenbrier High School - Evans, GA

The Heritage Patriots gave it their best shot as they tried to take down the defending champs in the Greenbrier “Wolfpack”. After winning the first game 10-3, the Wolfpack smelled blood. The Patriots had beaten the Wolfpack in the regular season and revenge was the only thing in their minds came game two.

First year Coach Rodney Holder was super excited about the win 3-2. His father Terry Holder holds 8 titles at 2 different schools. The Wolfpack claim their 5th title in 10 years.

Congratulations to both teams. You all are winners!

Dunwoody Wildcats makes history 3-A Champs

School’s first state baseball title.

Columbus High School - Columbus, GA

The Wildcats made a trip to Columbus Georgia on Friday to face the Columbus “Blue Devils” in the State 3-A finals. The Wildcats made the trip and turn around to come back the same night with the state title.

The Wildcats would win the series in 2 straight games 7-5 & 6-0.

The Wildcats had to rely on pitcher Grant Hillis to start game two and he game through with a complete game shutout. The win not only gave Dunwoody its first state baseball title but also DeKalb County public school it’s first in 33 years.

Congratulations to both teams. You all are winners!

Bears Claim 2-A Title!

Brodie Pullen hit his 25th home run on the season.

Calhoun High School - Calhoun, GA

After beating the Wesleyan “Wolves” in the semi-finals, everyone knew that the Calhoun “Jackets” were the favorite to win the title. Only thing about it was that someone forgot to tell the Holy Innocents “Bears”.

The Jackets blasted the Bears 12-2 in game one and then Holy Innocents returned the favor with a 10-1 beat down in game two.

When the smoke cleared game 3 would go to the Bears 11-0 as they got base clearing home runs from Daniel Blaustein and Bert Olsen.

Congratulations to both teams. You all are winners!

Cavaliers Claim 1-A Title!

Calvary Day upset Chargers.

Calvary Day School - Savannah, GA

This game is labeled an upset after the Eagles Landing Christian Academy “Chargers” won the state title in 2006. Unfortunately, Calvary Day Coach Kevin Farmer has won two of the last three titles and his team seemed to be hungry this time around.

After beating Gordon Lee I knew the Cavaliers had to be ready like Lebron over the Piston. The Cavaliers perform the sweep 8-4 and 3-2.

Congratulations to both teams. You all are winners!

Finals Message of the Season!

Deuteronomy 31:8 / Jeremiah 17:7
The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged / But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him.

Situation: Coach Wayman Phillips was known to be an untrustworthy and selfish coach. After practice one day he told his players I will never leave you guys to go to another school. In the middle of the season he left for Fairview High School. The players were hurt and distraught. They put all their trust in Coach Phillips.
