Early County High School - Blakely, GA (10/19/07) The two teams are traditional powerhouse when it comes to the game of football. The Bobcats losing to last years 2006 2-AA champs The atmosphere was set and the crowd was rocking, waiting to claiming bragging rights on the best team in region 1-AA. It wouldn’t take long once it fired up. The Purple Hurricanes would strike first, scoring on a 4 yard touch down run by Trenton Pruitt after an interception thrown by the Bobcats QB Michael Perry 7-0. The Bobcats defense looked off key early as the Purple Hurricanes would put up their second score in the first quarter on a Nick Williams 25 yard blast to move the score to 14-0. After a quick pep talk by assistant coach Kevin Ealey the Bobcats offense took off running. Bobcats quarterback Perry would throw for 2 Touchdown passes before the half, one to Dion’is Bryant for 34 yards and Shawn Williams for 27 yards. The Purple Hurricanes wouldn’t be out done as quarterback Brad Taylor would hit the tight end R.J. Davis for a 43 yard touch pass and Fitzgerald would be up by ten points entering the half 24-14. With 4 minutes left in the game super sophomore defensive end Marquis George would recover a crucial fumble to give the Bobcats the ball with a chance to win. The Bobcats would drive the ball down to the 11 yard line with End of game report: All State Linebacker Malcolm Lundy would win the game on an interception and finish with 8 tackles. The leading rusher for the Purple Hurricanes would be Nick Williams with 94 yards on 9 attempts and Quarterback Brad Taylor passed for 58 yards. Sophomore Kajuane Freeman would make a solo tackle on Pruitt for a 4 yard lost to change the momentum of the game. All State Linebacker Demetrius Cody led the team with 9 tackles and a pass deflection. All State Tackle Latavious Davis would lead the down linemen with 5 tackles. Michael Perry would lead the Bobcats in rushing (125 yards – 21 attempts) and passing (3 TD’s, 206 yards).
