Vikings Pest Control

Ken Wise went to work.

East Hall H.S. – Gainesville, GA

When it comes to first round match ups, the East Hall Vikings versus the South Atlanta Hornets was the one you wanted to tune in to. Of course the Hornets featured future NBA star Derek Favors but tell coach Joe Dix that.

The Hornets would jump out to a 12-0 lead when wise would convert on a dunk to turn things around. Sophomore shooting guard Joshten Hopkins would connect with his fourth three-pointer of the period to close the score to one point 18-17 in favor of the Hornets. Favors would pick up 2 early fouls causing the Vikings fans to chant, ”EAST HALL, EAST HALL.” Favor would play close to 5 minutes of the first half.

The Vikings would hold favors to 11 points and with 1:05 left in the period he would foul out the game. The game was closer than what appeared, both teams would miss clutch free-throws down the stretch. At the end of the day, the Hornets Quentin Trent would attempt a desperation three-pointer to win the game. The Hornets would come up short as East Hall moves to the second round to face Cartersville. The secret to the victory was no answer for power forward Ken Wise who finished with a game high 19 points.
