Birmingham, AL - When it comes to the final day, only the strong can survive. Would we get the opportunity to see Team Boo Williams match up with Exodus NYC?  Whitney Brown, Sarah Durdaller, Daniell Jackson and Ta'Shauna Rodgers games would step up to a whole nother level on the final day. 4SHOT Hoops brings you the exclusive match up. 

 

Day 3 (Friday, July 11, 2008)

 

16U - KC Select versus Gauchos

Birmingham, AL -
Afyea Tolbert would drain a three-pointer from the baseline to tie the game at 5 for the Gauchos. Her teammate Tiffany Conner would duplicate the shot, with a three-pointer from the top of the key and the KC Select would have to tighten up their defense. Victoria Macaulay would score in the paint for the Gauchos and KC Select coach Earnest Jones would have to call a timeout.  The Gauchos would go up 16-15 at the half.

 

In the second half the score would go back and forth with KC Select closing the gap by one point on a free throw from Diamond Ashmore 23-22 with 11:45 to go in the game. Richa Jackson started to show her versatility for the KC Select with four straight points on a jumper and a floater. With 1:27 left in the game Polly Harrington would connect on a three-pointer to cut the lead to one for the KC Select 37-36. Harrington would then get fouled with 6.2 seconds left in the game with an opportunity to seal it. Harrington would go 1 for 2 from the line and tie the game at 37. On the inbound play the Gauchos would push the ball up the court and Victoria would drain a prayer from the top of the key to win it (what an answer).

 

Final Score:  Gauchos 40 KC Select 37

  

 

15U - Exodus NYC versus KC Select

Birmingham, AL -The game would go into overtime with the score tied at 48. With 29 seconds left in overtime Isayra Diaz would convert 2 free throws to move the score to 58-55. KC Select would eventually have to foul but would make a desperation three pointer by Whitney Brown to end the game. Isayra Diaz would finish with a team high 11 points for the Exodus. Whitney Brown would finish with her team high 16 points, while teammates Sameesha Blant 11 points and Tyanna Snow 10 points.

 

Final Score: Exodus NYC 61 KC Select 58. 

 

Georgia Pistols 15U vs. Missouri Phenom

 

 

15U - Georgia Pistols versus Missouri Phenom

Birmingham, AL -
The Pistols would come out on a 10-0 run on a basket by Dominique Wilson and Coach John Albert would have to call a timeout with 13:20 left in the first half. After the timeout, the Pistols would continue shooting on a deep three pointer by Celina Rodrigo, moving the score to 18-0 with 11:20. It was over with before it got started. Halftime: Georgia Pistols 38 Missouri 7. Sarah Durdaller 13 points and Christen Johnson 10 points for the Pistols.

 

Final Score:  Georgia Pistols 54 Missouri Phenom 16

 

 

 

16U - Boo Williams versus NorCal Elite

Birmingham, AL -
The undefeated Boo Williams team looks to continue their streak with a win over the NorCal Elite team from Dante Circle California. Daniell Jackson would score 2 quick baskets on a crossover blow by and team Boo Williams would go up 13-1 with 6:30 left in the first half.  Ta’Shauna Rodgers would continue her three-point shooting from deep to put team Williams up 16-3. Hold your horse! Team NorCal would go on a 13-2 run before the half and that didn’t sit well with coach Williams. (Halftime: Boo Williams 18 Norcal 16)

 

Norcal would open up the second half on a three pointer by Alle Moreno to give them the first lead of the game 19-18. The game would stay close through out but the Elite wouldn’t have enough in the end. Daniell Jackson would score an team high 16 points, followed by 13 points from Ta’Shauna Rodgers. Alle Moreno would finish would 13 points for the Elite.

 

Final Score: Bo Williams 48 Norcal Elite 40

 

  

16U - Boo Williams versus Exodus NYC

Birmingham, AL -The last game of Day 3 could have been consider the championship game, as it featured the best of the best. The Boo Williams team versus Exodus NYC would leave colleges coaches hanging around for a show.

 

Team Boo Williams would get on the boards first on a mid-range jumper by Ataira Franklin followed by a three-pointer from Ta’Shauna Rodgers. You could tell that Exodus was ready to play up to the competition as Shenneika Smith would turn her game up on a no look assist pass to Christine Huber for the score. Both teams would battle it out in the first half but Daniell Jackson sweet jumper would keep team Boo Williams in the game. Jackson would constantly breakdown the defense and dishes the ball for 4 first half assist. Jackson wouldn’t stop until she hit a big three-pointer at the buzzer before the half. To give Boo Williams the ups at the half 30-17.

 

Jackson would continue her streak of shooting three’s as she increase the lead to 20 points on a deep bomb, moving the score to 47-27 with 7:55 left in the game. Everyone would get into the scoring mode as Jazmin Pitts, displayed her post presences on a turn around post move to move the score to 55-35 with 4:50 left in the game. Alyssa Bennett and Rahnecka Saunders would score the last 4 points of the game for team Boo Williams, as they walked away with this one easy 61-38.
