Street Talk - "Live in L.A."
with Jamail Jones

After finishing 16-9 last season the “Eagles” from Greenforest Christian are looking to do bigger and better things come the 2008-09 season and a large part of that is due to their 6-5 small forward Jamail Jones. Jones who had a “Cold Summer” playing AAU ball for Hoop Planet is really starting to turn the heads of college recruiters. I caught up with “Mellow” for a little Street Talk.

Greenforest Christian Academy's Jamail Jones.
L.A.:  "Who have been some of the most influential people in your
life?"
Jamail: “My family, and coaches.”

L.A.:  "What has been one of the most memorable moments in your
basketball career so far?"
Jamail: “Well right now its when I hit the game winning shot for
my AAU team.”

L.A.: "What basketball moment(s) would you most like to forget?"
Jamail: “Well I can't think of any at this time.”

L.A.: "What is the strongest part of your game?"
Jamail: “Attacking the basket.”

L.A.: "What do you think you need to work on to take your game to the
next level?"
Jamail: “My dribbling and defense.”

L.A.: "Who has been one of the toughest players you ever had to play
against and who is the best high school player you personally have ever
seen?"
Jamail: Jelan Kendrick (SACA) and Brandon Reed (Whitefield Academy). The best I've ever seen is Kenny Boyton (Team Breakdown from Florida).”

L.A.:  "Without tipping your hand, give me the names of some colleges
that you wouldn't mind playing for?"
Jamail: “Georgetown, Texas, Cincinnati, Illinois, Louisville, USC, UNC,
and any other Big East or ACC team.”

L.A.: "Tell me something about yourself that people wouldn't know by
just looking at you?"
Jamail: “That I can jump as high as I can jump.”

L.A.: "Do you have a nickname?"
Jamail: “J.J. and Mello.”

L.A.: "If you could change anything in the world today what would it
be?"
Jamail: “Lower Gas Prices.”

L.A.: "Now we are going to do a little something called "CONFESSIONS of
a Player"

CONFESSIONS of a Player

Jones pulls up and drills a jumper for Hoop Planet.
L.A.: "As an athlete is it easier to get a date or harder?"
Jamail: “Easier because girls are crazy about basketball players.”

L.A.: "If you could date any woman in the world who would it be?"
Jamail: “Stacey Dash!”

L.A.: "Do you get special treatment at home because you play sports?"
Jamail: “No, I get the worst treatment except from my mom.”

L.A.: "If you were not an athlete do you think people would treat you
different (explain)?"
Jamail: “No, because of the type of person I am. I don't know for some reason
people just like having me around them.”

L.A.: "When you step out, do you like to be noticed or recognized (not
in swelled head kind of way)?"
Jamail: “Yea. I do just not too much attention.”

L.A.: "When you are participating in your sport are you cocky or
confidant or both?"
Jamail: “Its a little bit of both.”

L.A.: "Keep it real now, do you use the fact that you are an athlete to
sometimes get your way?"
Jamail: “Yea, sometimes but it doesn't always work with my family.”

L.A.: "Have you ever backed away from a challenge and later told
yourself that that will never happen again?"
Jamail: “No, I will never back down from a challenge.”

L.A.: "Who is your favorite teacher in school?"
Jamail: “Mrs. Pendergraph”

L.A.: "What subject do you like most and which subject do you like
least?"
Jamail: “Math and I don't like Spanish at all.”

L.A.: "Last CONFESSION, if you could sit down with anybody in the world
past or present who would it be and what would you talk to the about?"
Jamail: “Michael Jordan... We would talk about how I could improve my
game so I could be the best player I can be.”

Until your next CONFESSION, Player ... Keep it Real

Jones looks to tak the ball to the hole against Whitefield Academy big man Cameron Baskerville.

L.A:  "What's your favorite food?"
Jamail: “My mom's spaghetti!”

L.A.:  "Who are the top 5 players in the NBA right now"?
Jamail: “Lebron James, Chris Paul, KG, Kobe Bryant, and Dwight Howard.”

L.A.: "Would you like to give a shout out to some of your people?"
Jamail: “Yea, first I'd like to give a shout out to my family who have been there
since day one and my mentor Coach Richards, my beautiful girlfriend
Jaime Duhart, my homeboys Jelan Kendrick, Joe Chase and all of my
Greenforest teammates.”

L.A.: "Jamail, Thank you for your time, it has been my pleasure to be
able to "Keep It Real" with you."
Jamail: “No problem. I have no problem keeping it real.”

If you want to Keep It Real holla at me.
