4SHOT Sports Football - 2008 Corky Kell Classic The Georgia Dome - Atlanta, GA Etowah “Eagles” vs. Starr’s Mill “Panthers” Etowah rips Starr’s Mill 47-24 Boykin rushes for 275 yards and 3 TD’s The Etowah defense was equally as anxious to get after some new meat, led by LB-Ryker Goodwell, LB-Kyle Beasley, DE-Justin Blosser, DL-Tyler Thomas and DL-Blake Pearce they box in the Starr’s Mill offense and forced a punt. On the Eagles next possession Boykin ripped off another 20-yard gain to give Etowah a first-down on the Starr’s Mill 30-yard line. A counter play to RB-Jason Holdway resulted in a 26-yard touchdown run by the sophomore. Miramonti’s PAT made it 14-0 with 4:29 left in the quarter. Needing desperately to make something happen the Panthers quarterback Myles Jay went to work, a short pass to WR-Jeffery Greene who made a nice run after the catch gave Starr’s Mill a big first-down out to the 44-yard line. A 23-yard pass play from Greene to Terrell Tripp moved the ball to Etowah’s 33-yard line as the first-quarter came to an end. Two plays into the second-quarter and the Panther’s got a short 4-yard scamper by TB-Spencer Penson for their first touchdown of the season. The PAT by K-Chris Ward cut the lead to 14-7. Terrell Tripp gave Starr’s Mill a big lift as the third-quarter got underway by returning the kick-off 90-yards for a touchdown. Ward’s PAT cut the lead to 20-14. Harris and the Eagles came right back, two big quarterback keepers resulted in 54-yards moving the ball to the Panthers 25-yard line. Boykin then ripped off 25-yards and a touchdown, his second of the game pushing the Eagles lead back up to thirteen, 27-14 with 9:13 left in the third-quarter. Starr’s Mill LB-Stephen Roberts was making plays all over the field for the Panthers as they slowed down the Eagles offensive attack forcing them to punt from their own end-zone. A bad punt gave Starr’s Mill excellent field position on the Eagles 30-yard line. Just when it looked like the Panthers might get back into the game Boykin broke their hearts as the senior ripped off a 70-yard touchdown jaunt right up the middle. The score and PAT pushed the Eagles lead back up to thirteen, 34-21 as the third-quarter came to an end. Early in the forth-quarter Boykin scored his third touchdown of the game on a 30-yard as the Eagles started to pull away, leading 41-21. The Etowah defense which had been solid the entire game was finally rewarded when SS-Jordan Padgett picked off Jaye and returned the pick 55-yards for a touchdown giving the Eagles a demanding 47-21 lead and thus slamming the cage on the Panthers by a final score of 47-24. © Copyright 2006 by 4SHOT Sports |
