Henry County “War Hawks” vs. Central Macon “Chargers”

McDonough, GA –  It was only 2 years ago when the diamond in the Central Macon High School “Chargers” Matthew Brabham was discovered. Now coach Andre Taylor diamond continues to shine and looks to take his team hopefully pass the second round of the state playoffs. Central Macon came up short 67-50 in the second round of the 07-08 playoffs with a lost to Washington County. If the Chargers want to make another run, a big win tonight against the Henry County High School “War Hawks” would be in the right direction. The task want be easy as the young War Hawks are 6-1 in the region and coach Vincent Rosser had his squad ready.

The game would start fast with a three-pointer from the corner by Xavier Card, followed by 4 straight points from Erion Smith to move the score to 7-2. Then Matthew would go to work scoring 8 points in the first period on three consecutive cross-over moves. Brabham would connect on a no look pass to Rashar Knight in the corner for a three-pointer and the Chargers would take the lead into the second period 25-16.

 In the second period, Matthew would score10 straight points with 40-23 1:15 to go into the half. Brabham was going lights out as he drain 2 three-pointers from NBA range and call several iso plays then beating his man to the basket. The War Hawks would keep some hope as Larricus Thomas nailed a three pointer to slow the burn and keep the score 43-26 at the half.

We pick the game up in the fourth period when the War Hawks cut the lead to 7 points on a three-pointer from Jeremy Mosley 65-58 with 23 seconds left in the game. Unfortunately, the time would run out on the War Hawks as they made a valiant effort but the night would belong to the Chargers.
